TN Commit David Oku

I still want him at UT!! Some of you are saying he is a headcase, but I think he is an 18yr old boy trying to make a big decision. Let him take his time and welcome him into the vol nation!!!

I wonder if it was our staff that turned him into a head case.Last night, in the presser CEO talked about how we blanket recruits and maintain contact with everyone around them. Maybe this kid was struggling with a decision and all that contact/pressure drove this kid over the cliff . :dunno:

So what's the holdup?

Brown and Charles still have visits to take...so at least they have a legit reason for not signing yet...

Oku has no reason to not have signed at this point...."Oh boo hoo...Kiffin went after other RB's....boo hoo...they didn't keep my mediocre position coach"

He needs to man up and pull the trigger...

This kind of behavior is just childish...and before anyone says he's just 18...18 is old enough to vote, smoke and fight for your country...in other words you're considered an adult so act like one....that's what I was always told at that age

Oh yeeaahh. It's just the biggest decision of his life so far. Give the kid a break..

It's the biggest decision of his life that he has had months and months to decide on...

What's going on now with him has nothing to do with a lack of preparation on his part...he's had more than enough time and has all the information he needs to make that choice

I can't chalk it up to anything but grand standing....just flat out childish behavior

Let the kid make the decision that is best for him!

Hope he does not flip a coin like the guy that chose Rutgers over WVa. What a tool! A coin flip is the basis of your future???? Really?

Oku has officially withdrawn from being a VOL from what I've been hearing...It's Auburn or Syracuse...Wish We could close out this thread as he isn't important to us anymore...Good luck elsewhere and be sure to grab some cookies on your way out.
I personally dont really want the guy now as wishy-washy as he is. However given as much as he changes his mind and his situation with family problems, he probably isnt thinking really rationally if true. I'd say we could be back as his favorite at any moment or eliminated entirely.

Absolutley it is. Huge decision for a kid. I don't know why some people act like this makes him a head case. I really hope Oku decides to be a Vol. I think he would be big for this class. But if not I am so proud of our staff.

I look at the decision different than most.

if a kid is really good (like Oku...but not APetterson) but wants to make sure he is going to play alot from day 1, go to a school that gives you the best chance to play and show off your skills. "Girls like guys with mad skills..." (Napoleon Dynamite).

Why should anyone question a decision that a young person makes? What would you do???? Play at UT and be a 2/3 string back, or go to memphis, Ole Miss, Syracuse and be a starter from day one? That is not an easy decision. How many players are at UF, LSU, UT, USC, ect.....that wish they had done something different? ALOT! UF's 3rd string rb could be a stud at Central Fla, and maybe play in the NFL. Let the kid do what is best for him.

PS.......Oku.....please come to UT!

If we are really no longer pursuing Oku, then he either doesn't fit our system (See Boyd, Petty, Thigpen), he did something to turn Kiffin off, or we have someone else in mind. Bryce Brown maybe?????

True, but Coach O will keep in contact. He said that today in his presser. It's a catch 22...you don't contact them then the players don't "feel the love"...then you do puruse them and they are getting "too much pressure". Hello, it's gone from Friday night to the big time baby. Man up!

I be surprised if Kiffin banks on Brown before he takes an offical here.

I would be surprised as well, however, apparently Brown has been committed to Miami all this time and has not taken an official there. So who knows what might be going on.

Being a horse and playing for sub-par schools is not a very good idea. Say a player goes to TCU has four 1k yard seasons, he gets to manage the local Walgreens for 40-50 years. How many have come to UT and done the same, haha you see my point. Our boys got play for millions on Sunday. You know what your getting when a boy runs for 1k+ on our schedule.

I'm pretty sure there's a really good RB in the NFL that came from TCU. Can't remember his name though...
