TN Commit David Oku

I agree Jack...It just doesnt seem to me we have been on him as hard as we would a back considered a necessity. He seems more like a thirddown back anyway..I would much rather have Lacy or Hardy. Everydown backs that get stronger as the game goes on...althought Oku does remind me a bit of Charlie Garner.

I'd rather have Hardy anyway

No way!!! Oku is #1 rated All Purpose Back by Rivals.
Some other notable #1 APB by Rivals include...Maurice Jones-Drew 2003,Lorenzo Booker 2002, C.J Spiller 2006, Noel Devine 2007,and Antone Smith 2005 never really panned out but could have been a great RB. All I'm saying is we need this guy. Rivals does a pretty good job at evaluating APB and especially giving him the #1 ranking.

I think in Lane's eyes, he is a luxury, not a necessity. He wasn't goint to start at TB this year and next year he would've likely been buried behind the Bryce Brown of 2010.

If he wants to run trick plays at Auburn while we're throwing the ball all over the field, then it's been real I guess.

We likely have the 'Bryce Brown of 2010'? Praytell, who is it?

Lego my Ego man. This kid don't know up from down right now...if he comes fine, if don't see ya. I am satisfied with what we have, Creer has all out STUD potential and we recruit athletes. Oku said he wouldn't: 1) take other visits after he chose UT then he went to Syracuse and Auburn 2) consider offenses that ran a spread...HELLO Malzahn runs the spread/gimmick offense 3) and that he planned to enroll in January... He is an 18 yr old kid being swayed right now but Trooper (will it come down to the best "salesman" in the end?) OKu loves drama and the spotlight (source is a coach at his HS who has told me since last year he is a drama King) in the end I feel he will choose UT but I really could care less if he does now.

Lattimore is good, but he's nowhere close to Seastrunk.

Basically, Laches HS videos look like a better version of Reggie Bush at the same point. He's that explosive.

why are you being a smart:shaking2:?

Lane's staff will have an entire year to go after an elite back that they envision in their system.

It's not my responsibility to entertain you. I'm here to talk sports, not to be your personal oyster of information.

We got into the conversation on a half-dozen running backs with a patchwork staff. With an entire year to develop relationships and to scout talent, I feel confident that this staff is going to get an elite running back.

He's from Texas and dominating 5A. Most people are saying it's going to be close to impossible to pull him from either Texas or OU now. LSU has a decent shot though, because that's where he's from.

Supposedly both he and Trovon Reed, the #1 WR from Louisiana want to play together in college as well.

Oku come to UT man. Auburn sucks and Syracuse is a joke.

Oku can take a hike now as far as i'm concerned. This kid flip flops more than anyone i've seen.

As far as RBs, unless we can shore up our offensive line it doesn't matter who we get to run the ball.

Come on JM. Oku is still a good player and probably a good kid. His indecision is understandable in light of all that's happened.

Your comment on the OL is dead on... thanks for joining me in the realm of reality.

Sorry, i'm just getting tired of this kid being committed then not. This whole recruiting thing is getting to me. Maybe i'm expecting more i don't know. If we can't pull Hall and we lose Phillips i'm really gonna be depressed. To me our biggest needs are O-line and D-line and we are not addressing either. Maybe we are just to late in the game getting on these kids.

I think that Phillips is a good as gone and We'll find out about Hall 1:00 PM today where he'll be going.

I think we all may have underestimated what losing Drayton did to our chances with him.

I think so to Rex. Either that, or he is perturbed by all the RB's we've had visiting lately. I think it is interesting how he might wait until after NSD now to make a decision. It's almost like he is waiting to see what happens. Doesn't really make since either, since he committed to UT after Giles had.
