TN Commit David Oku

So Hubbs thinks we will lose Oku?
Yesterday he said he had a source that told him Oku wasn't coming to Knoxville. But last night he said only the coaches have been in contact and don't have a feel for what he may do. Hubbs' feel on the situation is lukewarm at best.

I can, I did, and I will continue to. But I am honored that you have taken a long enough break from your O-line freakouts to give criticism to my posts.
Can't as in "Wouldn't do it if you are being reasonable and thoughtful"- not so much that you physically can't... Obviously people are physically capable of doing unwise things....

Oh, and you're welcome but my "freak outs" were at least based on tangible facts... like say a ROSTER. Even then I didn't make a definitive statement with no other options. Experience on the OL WILL be a problem in '10 simply because there won't be guys on the 09 roster to get experience. None the less, JUCO's or incredible coaching could somehow overcome it.

Do you have anything objective to base your DEFINITIVE statement on?

Regardless of what happens to any of these remaining prospects, I think this class has been a success.

I agree. I kinda wish it woulda just wrapped up with janzen jackson so we could end the recruiting season on a high note. either way this class has been a success. if we miss on the remaining prospects, i dont want us to lose steam.

If I didn't, I wouldn't have made the statement.

I know Brown has all eyes on him, but let's not forget about this guy. He will be a stud one day, and I really would love to see him orange.

I think Oku is holding out for Brown and I have a sneaky feeling that he'll sign with Tennessee. People have said he's scared of competition and that might be but he's a very versatile tailback and I'd take him anyday

If he doesn't want to compete I'd honestly turn him away. I want a guy that wants to try as hard as possible to get playing time, not someone that is handed everything because he has more stars next to his name than somebody else. If he wants early playing time, and an easy road to getting the ball go to Syracuse, because he won't play until his Junior Year at Auburn or Tennessee....(Fannin/Creer or Poole)

I agree that we don't need a guy that does not want to compete. But we don't know if that is the case here. I really hope we get Oku...and we don't know that he would not get alot of playing time until he is a junior. Kiffin has made it known that he will play the best and may be freshman. Oku could play alot and early if he earns it.

I didn't say he was afraid of competition, that's just a rumor that has been floated on this thread and other boards. I think he wouldn't shy away from a challenge it's just alot of high school stars these days are so cocky and ego-driven. They're always being told how great they are :)worship:) and no one knocks them down a peg

Oku, if you are reading this, please know that the majority of us would love to have you here at Tennessee....and we NEED you!

IMO its not a coincidence (sp?) that DOku backed out about the time BB got interest. There is Def something there.

personally, i dont fault him for that. i understand not being afraid of competition, but when your competition is Bryce Brown, you have to take notice. these players only get one chance to put themselves in the best situation they can. if he has held out this long, just to wait on us, then i applaud him for that. alot more than we can say for Giles, Stokes, and Phillips.
