TN Commit David Oku

Your opinion, if it is as you stated, matters very little to me. You called our coach a "33 year old arrogant brat" and said that that is why we are losing recruits. You are obviously ill-informed and presumptuous. It's a waste of my time. Suffice it to say that I agree with absolutely none of your contentions and move on.

I said he was coming off that way. How am I ill-informed. Please inform me. First consult rivals to see if you can find any articles on it, then get back with me.

You still have yet to address my first post which I believe you said was so rediculous you wouldn't know where to begin. Please teach me how I am in error.

What are you guys opinion on the chances we have at keeping Oku in orange?

To be honest I'm not sure because at this point it's obvious he is not sure.

I think the pressure of trying to decide, yet all the while knowing he has to improve his ACT score to be able to get in whichever school he chooses is getting to him...

His stock in my eyes has dropped considerably in the past few weeks. I don't see him being very emotionally stable to be quite honest.

But then again a lot of people questioned mine when I was 18..

That's a good perspective. We have to keep that in mind.

For example, could you imagine being 18 and feeling like you had to go the same school as your HS girlfriend--and that school was in Athens, GA, of all places?

Talk about shackles way too early... Let it go, Marlon. You'll be a rock star at UT. Enjoy the celebrity status in Knoxville and all that comes with it! If you don't, you'll regret it. It's fine to have a girlfriend in Athens. She won't show up unannounced at any UT parties!

Oku, all this indecision is fine, but trying to figure out whether you want to be a 'trick play' running back or an NFL style one really shouldn't be that difficult. You've got the talent to play in the League. Play for a position coach who coached several to get there.

The story is simple. David meet Marlon. Marlon meet David. See David and Marlon win championships at Tennessee. Have fun while doing it. Get drafted early. Have fun playing in the NFL.

Dude, I signed up for Rivals 2 days ago and I don't plan on giving them a dime. Just signed up for the 7 day freebie.

Orangefreak, I think we get Oku in the end. I don't see losing him to Auburn. He's obviously not going to Syracuse to play for nothing every year, and once the Official Visit high wears off, I think he will come back to his original decision to be a Vol.

I think Oku really wants to be a Vol. I am starting to think he is just nervous about the competition with Lacy or Hardy and I also feel like he might have got his feelings hurt or just got mad when UT brought these guys in for a visit so close to NSD. If Lacy and Hardy sign with someone else early on NSD, I think you see Oku sign with UT the same day. I really believe he is waiting to see what happens. I don't feel like he is that torn with his decision at all. I think he is going to sit back and watch, or he is just trying to make a point to UT for looking at these other guys. I pretty much agree with Sab, in the end he is a Vol. Just my opinion.

Old coach: "Great season men, We tried our best and worked like heck, fortune did not smile on us. I love you all and have a nice time off and see you in the spring"

New coach: " You guys look like jelly filled donuts! get your @ss into the gym now, when your done there go do some sprints! Believe me when I tell you your job on my team is in jeopardy"

Players: "Man, the new coach is a jerk!"

Forgive me if it's already been mentioned, but it doesn't hurt that Dontae Aycock is now on at Auburn. He's a HS QB who will play RB for the Tigers. Is that 3 RBs for Auburn now?

Aycock visited Auburn this past weekend but I don't see where he has committed to anyone yet. They do already have 3 RB's committed however. I still think Oku will be a Vol in the end.

According to the AJC he is.

Welcome to AJC! | ajc.com

Aycock’s decision to visit Auburn (where he is now committed), who is recruiting him as a running back, may have been influenced by his brother Dwight Smith, a safety for the Detroit Lions.

I just know some people in that program and they are going to celebrate his graduation. I also watched him play this season, and he is such an "I," he walked everywhere in and out of the huddle. Nearly every snap they almost took a delay of game because they had to wait on him to walk in the huddle, then walk to get lined up.

I agree with you, i think Oku is just waiting to see if we get anymore RB's to sign on NSD. He will be all Vol.

If Kiffin wants him, I want him. It's easy for a fan of an in-state school not getting him to have that opinion. I saw the same crap on Marlon Brown when it looked like we were out of the running for him.

You would think that coaches would see that when they watched game film and dock him. Maybe that's why some did. I know they see a lot more film than the youtube and rivals clips that we see.

David Oku needs more time
ESPNU 150 David Oku of Carl Albert (Midwest City, Okla.), ranked No. 13 among running backs and No. 127 prospect overall in the Class of 2009, has decommitted from Tennessee.

Oku recently took official visits to Syracuse and Auburn, and is still considering the Vols. Citing a need for space to make a decision, the prospect is not taking calls from coaches and does not have plans to pick any team on Signing Day.

The highly-coveted ball-carrier had pledged to the Vols over Nebraska, Michigan, Florida State, Clemson and Louisville.

The latest on ESPN. First time I have read that he has actually officially decommitted.

I don't even think OU is recruiting him. I posted it in another thread, but it makes you wonder why.

Then you haven't read this thread dating back to yesterday. :)

More on Oku. Looks like he is planning on middle of next week.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The SU football team may be hauling in the number one all-purpose running back recruit in the country, but it won't happen this Wednesday.

Oklahoma tailback David Oku says he won't make his college choice official until sometime next week.

Not that that is a bad thing, because at least it means he's got to think about it.

Oku visited Auburn University this past weekend and tells Auburnsports.com he liked it enough to include the Tigers in his top-3 college finalists, along with Tennessee and Syracuse.
Oku delays NLI decision

The first day college football players can sign letters of intent is Wednesday, but Oku says he won't have his mind made up until the middle of next week.
