Trust me when I say that this coaching staff isn't concerned about this. They are holding these schollies for these guys and if they choose to come here that's great, if not then oh well they will have someone to line up and take that scholly.

What does being required or not to attend the university have to do with it? They are already required to sing by April 1st. All the pundits are saying is move that date up. Don't give these guys so long to decide. Or like I said, limit the officials to prior to signing day. I listed the reasons that this should be under consideration already.

That's my point. You don't have to sign a LOI to play. So what does it matter??

You might want to listen to this interview before making that assumption. Sorry to have to point it out, but you're just wrong on that one. Listen at 7:20.

Its designed to protect the University as much as it is the recruit.

Without LOI's and the signing period there would be no way to realistically predict who and when a recruit will accept a scholarship. When you are dealing with limits there has to be a system in place to know when and how you are going to reach those limits. In this case the 25 scholarship limit.

I don't think that he likes it, but it's part of it. I don't see the NCAA doing anything about this. They have a month and half to sign after the first date. I do agree with an early signing day for those that KNOW where they want to go, but I don't see that happening either.

You really don't think it matters? What about that one guy that wants to come to a certain school, but that school is holding a scholly for a guy that wants to put off signing and doesn't have room? Does it affect him? And if you don't get that player and don't get the other guy because he signed on signing day with a different school, does that not effect your team? There are multiple reasons that there needs to be a rule adjustment of some kind for this. Sure it's within the rules now. All we are saying is change the rules to where it is not. By your logic, why even have a signing day?

If a school is willing to hold a scholly for the guy or guys what does it matter?? They are choosing to do this, if they don't want the headache then they can tell the guy to go elsewhere.

Early enrollees just enroll. There is no need for an LOI, because once they are enrolled, they can't go to another school without a transfer. JuCo early enrollees do sign a LOI. My feeling for the reason behind that is, if they fail to qualify for some reason, it binds them to that school. Not exactly sure, but I am positive that they sign LOIs.

If there aren't enough schollies to count back, they can still enroll early. They just count toward the current year's allotment.

An LOI just guarantees your financial aid agreement with the school. It doesn't guarantee you a spot on the team or anything else.....

This is straight from the NCAA....
By signing a National Letter of Intent am I guaranteed that I will play on a team?

No. Signing a National Letter of Intent does not guarantee you playing time or a spot on the team. Rather, by signing a National Letter of Intent, the institution with which you signed agrees to provide you athletics financial aid for the academic year.
