And that level of ball is just not conducive to huge stats for DEs.Ok I have held back for long enough. See the thing here is you're saying real silly stuff. The difference between Grimes and kids at BGA is they still have to earn offers while he has all the offer letters in his possession. The problem here is many of you don't get "it". In reality we want to see a kid jump off the screen when watching them play, but in some instances a kid might back down for business purposes. Well in Grimes has all the offers he needs. Whether commitable or not he was offered. Mark my words and hear me clearly when whomever signs this kid they're getting a supreme athlete. He does make plays just check the hghlights from last weeks playoff game. The damn kid played Rb, Fb, TE, H-back, Lb, and DE. When referring to Maleik Gray there is NO comparison here. Maleik simply would make ZERO plays in a game and have zero catches as a Wr. What happened with Gray was the fact that he worked hard in MS, also he was bigger than most everyone and we trained him. All the accolades went to his head then he stopped working and became very average. There was one game Lavergne played I think Blackman and they ran the ball the entire game. He started at Wr and played Lb and SS. The kid did not make one single tkl. The is no such game you can pull up on Grimes like this. The only kid in the mid TN area who plays Lb who is as athletic with talent and ability is JR Colson from Ravenwood.
and there's probably a USCe fan on a cock board saying "man, Jeremy pruitt knows defense, somethings gotta be wrong with that kid if he's not pushing"And that level of ball is just not conducive to huge stats for DEs.
I know Muschamp’s program is in the crapper rn but he knows defense, and if he wants Grimes it makes me wish we’d push a little harder. Thanks for sharing that.
Oh damn he doesn't? Thank you so much! Keep your line to Pruitt open, it will be handy here.
Let's be honest, Miller is a contingency plan. If we had Ratledge, Morris, and say Dumervil committed he never gets the offer. I hope he works out because he looks like a promising run blocker, but he's a project with a ton of bad weight and poor technique.
.
Good lord, Ratledge? Can we not just admit we got better end of the deal with Cooper? It's weird how many threads threads I keep opening and seeing you say this kind of stuff to people.
Weird because it's basically anyone that disagrees with you after you tell them what the coaches are "really" thinking and doing.
4 starFWIW, Ravenwood has posted individual stats for all of their games except Dickson County and Centennial. Grimes' numbers for those 10 games:
While the sack total is fairly impressive, IMO it appears 247's evaluation comment that he "doesn’t seek contact out" is borne out by his numbers, even more so this year than last. A kid with Grimes' size, speed and agility should be a force on the field but he has been far from that.
- 23 total tackles, 7 sacks and 1.5 TFL (note: Ravenwood double-counts sacks and TFL but I've separated those here. I've also taken the conventional approach of combining solo + assisted tackles instead of giving half-credit for the latter.)
- 37 rushes for 184 yards and 3 TDs
- 4 receptions for 39 yards

Sometimes I jump into these threads not fully realizing where the battle lines are drawn. I figured that it was a no brainer you go after your state's top prospect until the ink is dry. I'm sure UGA is still working on Murphy and that one seems a lot less likely than Grimes to Vols. We may wind up with this guy.@VolunteerHillbilly i siap yesterday that you weren't a troll...........you're making me look bad. lol.
We are pushing. As poor as in-state recruiting has been since Pruitt's arrival, there is no way we don't aggressively pursue the #1 in-state prospect even if it's a square peg/round hole situation.

Apologies for being critical of Grimes. Don't mean to disrespect the kids you put a lot of time into.
Yes he does make more plays than Maliek Gray. And he's shown good awareness and willingness on both sides of the ball. But for his skillset I would expect him to absolutely dominate. He hasn't yet...
I'm looking forward to when Ravenwood clashes with Maryville in Rd 4.
Then if they get past them, they'll have to deal with the Whitehaven trio in State Title games. For the record, all 3 Whitehaven LBs are better than Grimes...right now. Just my opinion.
My point is that he will have opportunities real soon to show how good he can be. And I hope he does.
I can see why he wouldn't want to dominate recruiting in a state that is finally producing enough elite talent to justify national title contending programs like Clemson and UGA having top recruiters assigned to this territory. Much better to go for the Nevada 2 stars and shock the world.Maybe Pruitt doesn’t care about reclaiming dominion?
