After having 2 years like this you would think we would be used to it but I am not lol.. good looking dog BTW I had one just like him named Doc (after Holliday of course)
Bottom line... Jones needs a win this weekend badly to kill all of this stuff both inside and outside the locker room.
If I understand your comment correctly... I think that's probably what Jones expected. I think he expected and wanted JG to pass QD. JG hasn't developed mentally as fast as expected and QD just won't get out of the way... he keeps performing better and earning the job.
If that's true... then there could be a divided coaching staff and team. One of the commentators last Saturday mentioned that he didn't like the body language of the team after JG came in. If that is true and meaningful then it would support the notion that the players think QD should be the starter and aren't happy that the head games continue.
There have been a few interviews in which Kelly has demonstrated that he likes and respects Dormady. He talked in one of them about their time in mop up in earlier years and how they talked about things when it came their turn. The only thing I've ever heard him say about JG is the talking point: "We have confidence in whichever QB is in the game".
Nothing conclusive... just smoke drifting in a particular direction. If Kelly's the leader of the O... and he thinks QD should be the guy based on what he's experienced in practice... and Jones is still trying to find a way to let JG win the job... not good.
Nope, I said I wouldn't blame Butch until we know the facts. Not sure how you make the leap from that to Butch being a victim, but okay. You came right out and said it.
Okay, so let's blame Butch for something he may have nothing to do with it. Again, this fits your agenda so I understand.Maybe because he's being paid $11,000/day to be UT's HC?
And who is responsible STILL for managing the players and coaches?
Okay, again this fits with your agenda. You could. It just wouldn't be true. Situations like this are never as simple as he's right and he's wrong. But in this situation... someone IS responsible. That's Jones.
So every head coach in the nation is responsible for the attitude of every player. That is a victim mentality if I've ever heard one. They are. But they don't live in a vacuum or develop a bad attitude exclusive of the HC.
My whole point is, don't jump to conclusions without facts. But you've already jumped there. So we can agree to disagree. I have my opinion, you have yours, let's leave it at that.I don't blame him for everything. I've been very careful all along not to blame him for things that I didn't have at least a decent case for believing.
I don't know what happened for sure but being "bad" doesn't make the info true. The source seems to be credible and the information seems to be consistent with other things that have happened.
With Tennessee's HC, past is prologue. He is his own history, and 10 year head coaching record. An 8 win per year average coach, with an occasional peak and valley. Grab a win you shouldn't, lose two you should win. There is something intrinsically flawed in his "system", however infallible as he believes it to be, that keeps him at that 8 win average no matter what he does.
The ones speculating are the ones who refuse to see that, and hope he becomes something else.
a win would probably do it
even a close and well played game with the team looking like they have fire and play their hearts out would help
a loss brings up more questions
then if/when we loose to Vandy, Kentucky, SC, or anyone else (other than Bama which is expected) it'll just be like pouring gas on the flames

Just how involved are player's daddies involved in day to day team business and their son's team particpation? Seems to me mommas and daddies shouldn't be involved in team business and day to day operations.
Rumblings of this stuff had been around the program for 4 years. The head coach does a good job of controlling the narrative coming out of the program, but of you know and talk to people (parents, relatives, players, low level AD people etc.)the stories of player discontent have been a regular component if this program under the current leadership. It's been talked about before, and per Volnation standard, the players have been labeled malcontent drama queens and the cause of it all.
People bring it, and nobody wants to hear it. That's okay...kill the messengers. Obviously that's best for the players and program.
Depends what parent or booster your talk too. Winning cures everything. From the people I know, certain 5* players were shown special treatment, which caused some rift with players who actually work hard in practice (Richmond/Hurd). Most say it was clear from the first few practices that AK deserved to be the starting RB and that Richmond was nothing more than a tity baby. Nobody that post on here has any credible knowledge of what is going on in the AD department.
We agreed right up until the last sentence.
There are those of us living in Knoxville that have neighbors, church members, people in our circle if friends that are connected in many ways to what is going on in the AD. And they talk. It's way more widespread than you may think how many 1 and 2 degree of separation relationships there are in this town. It's not a big place.
So in the end this thread is a rumor with the intent of getting attention and stirring the pot. Everyone knows that Butch has underachieved and this is year #5. The time is now and backs are against the wall. I will be there Saturday pulling for the Vols to win. I trust that you will be doing the same. :hi:
de1 has always posted to support his selfish agenda. When a coach wasn't happy with him/his company he publicly came on here to bash them and try to turn recruits away from UT. Then he had a change of heart when money was placed in his hand and the doors were opened. He's the used car salesman that smokes 3 packs a day and knows strippers by name. JMO
