For those who’ve been before, I thought it’d be nice to have some tips and suggestions as to what to do, what not to do, restaurant/bar recommendations, tips on buying tix, where to buy merchandise, etc. Anything that you’d think would be relevant for folks attending the CWS for the 1st time. GBO!

Never been to the CWS but it’s on my bucket list. I think with TV we will have many opportunities.

I don’t normally eat Mexican food north of the Mason-Dixon Line but I had a client that always took me to Maria’s and it was very good. Omaha has a lot of places that fry flour tortillas for their hard shell tacos and they are excellent.

Enjoy! GB🍊 !

Never seen that- fried flour tortilla for a hard shell. Sounds good. I usually get flour instead of corn for enchiladas because I hate corn tortillas lol

I saw while watching the Basevols during a rain delay that OM crushed the competition on this contest. By a lot, like 1000+ shots or something ridiculous
Heard they are prepackaged Jell-O shots that most just throw away. Also hear they donate a portion of proceeds to charity so at least it‘s for a good cause (depending on portion of what they actually donate). Zero interest in consuming Jell-O shots…but keep the suggestions coming.

I went the last time the Vols were in Omaha. My two takeaways: 1.) There really isn’t a bad seat in the house and it’s a fun stadium to walk around. 2.) Give yourself time to go to the fan fest right next to the stadium.
I concur. My son and I walked the entire stadium prior to the game. There are no bad seats. It's a nice venue.

One thing that I forgot to add. If the weather cooperates, give yourself some time to go for a walk over the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Missouri River and visit the Lewis and Clark Landing. These are not too long of a walk from the stadium but we chose to drive over to these sites. My kids enjoyed crossing the bridge and looking down into the river and seeing tons of fish.

Reuben Sandwiches were invented in Omaha at a late night poker game as one of the players was very hungry.

Joe's is pretty darn good!!! It is a tourist thing, but we were happy. Seems like Wednesday is tips night...extra yum.

Joe's KC (formerly Oklahoma Joes) got a lot of attention nationwide after Anthony Bourdain featured it on one of his shows. Its a staple in KC, but everybody here has different favorites based on pulled pork, burnt ends, ribs, and sides (Q39, Joes, Jacks Stack, Gates, Arthur Bryants, etc). Gates and Bryants are the originals. There are always new BBQ hot spots popping up. I was never a fan of Q39 because I thought it was overpriced for the portion sizes. It was super popular for a while but seems to be fading a bit. My staple that I take people to from out of town is Jacks Stack in the Freight House District near Union Station, because everything on the menu is fairly solid and is a great atmosphere. Some popular ones right now in the area are Slaps and newer places like Meat Mitch, Harp BBQ, and Wolfepack BBQ.
