Tim Banks

Good post. We all knew we had no defense before the season started.

I think the best way to help Joe Milton will be for other units to improve. Tight ends, Running backs, and Defense overall. We need some help in the transfer portal.
Milton’s problem is he is all or nothing every play. It’s between his ears. Heupel needs different formation packages for him that limits his options until he can consistently hit the deep ball that he thinks he can hit every play for some reason.

I'll defer judgment until he gets more secondary depth. He's not playing with a full deck.

But more pressure on AR would've been nice since it's obvious he caves under pressure.
We really struggle to get pressure. It seemed like we should’ve blitzed more but the times we did blitz we often didn’t touch AR. I’m with you though. We need better personnel to see what we have with Banks and we have a great defensive class coming in so I’d certainly expect some improvement next year. They did improve from Pruitt’s last year to Banks’s first and did so with a far inferior roster compared to Pruitt’s.

No way Heupel can make a change anytime soon. You can't expect Banks to do much with the talent he has to work with on defense. It's abysmal. Average is being generous. And there's zero depth. Let's cool the jets on firing coaches. We're 4-0 with a really questionable roster. When I try to imagine what they can do with a more talented, deeper roster, I'm pretty excited for the future. My one huge concern....can we replace Hooker? Yeah, I know Nico is coming. Milton has a cannon and TJ is someone the staff loves, but none have proven they can handle things as well as Hooker. He's going to be very, very tough to replace.
Banks had a better D in his first year than Pruitt had the year prior and Pruitt had way better personnel.

Well you can't keep playing a COVID defense and hope to be on the right side of the scoreboard each week. It'll catch up to you, like playing GA. Anyway, not saying it could be a suffocating defense or anything but Com'on, they're better than the performance tonight. Sometimes I just don't get it.

This…Pruitt was a supposed Defensive guru, and he was such a bad coach.. that ‘win streak’ they had the kudos should probably just go strictly to the players…

It a few weeks when we play UT-Martin, Milton needs to play the entire 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter.

I like Banks for the most part honestly, I dont think our Defensive backs can cover good enough to play man on man against quality teams therefore we must created disruption up front with the lineman or linbackers, I think what went wrong yesterday was we thought Richardson couldnt throw effectively and game planned around playing coverage and playing a spy to not let him run, problem was they came in throwing and what do you know he can throw, my problem with our defense is we did not adjust, its like we had no other options but to run the defense we started the game with and while he was picking us apart we still did not blitz effectively, we are lucky to have won honestly, Im glad we did but this game brought back so many bad memories toward the end I had to go outside until it was over.

I’m beginning to wonder about him. Seems like the game prep failures occur on the defensive side - not knowing that Slovis sucks against man to man, and not knowing that AR struggles under pressure. Honestly though, he doesn’t have great personnel. The secondary is soft, the LB’s are thin, and the D line can’t get pressure with 4. Freshman Josephs is better than Baron. Not all on Banks. Where the heck is Flowers? Senior safety has made one play all season. Heupel didn’t do him any favors in the fourth by taking his foot off the gas, that nearly cost the game.

Coach Banks is terrible
I don’t think that’s fair. Last year most people here felt like he was overachieving because he inherited garbage.. now his best players from last year have graduated. This team is even less talented than last years team.

It’s what we Golf Professionals call “Loft.”

Lack
Of
F’ing
Talent

the defense just isn’t there yet. It’s coming………..

Tim Banks playcalling I was fine with. Hadden is hot dog water but sealed the deal. Once these new cats get in, I think we will see a lot of improvement.
The play calling was the worst I’d ever seen. I could see what was coming sitting on my couch.

Like it or not Florida just played much better than they did against UK and USF. AR 15 brought his A-Game, but we still prevailed.

Hadden had a bad day. The secondary missed several tackles too. Florida was known to have a good OL.

Yep.

The defense is not good. We know this. But you can't give them all the blame and not give AR credit. We played AR exactly the way that I suggested, which was to contain AR in the running game and force him to beat us with his arm. And he definitely was up to the task last night. While he had a softer pocket than I would have liked at times, he still made some great throws, like on the 4th and short down the sideline. He's an amazing talent, and sometimes you just have to tip your cap.

Georgia gave up 22 pts to Kent State. Hope they fire their DC too
Another bend but don't break game played by a pretty good defense. Like it or not UT and UGA seem to be holding back when they get big leads and I think it's an attempt to save players from injury and get a few others some reps. I only counted 2 plays where UT rushed more than 4 on passing plays. UF didn't have a ground game except when AR broke containment. We get an extra week to prepare for LSU and they have a dual-threat QB.

Despite Florida's QB having a career day, this game shouldve been put away by our offense in the last 4 minutes of the game and the final score shouldve been 38-21. Our defensive did enough for us to win. Forget that nonsense at the end. This game really wasnt as close as the final score indicated.

And to those calling for Tim Bank's job, look I'm sorry you lost money on the spread but my god shut up, just SHUT UP! You dont have a damn clue as to what youre talking about. Just zip your mouths and allow yourselves to find joy in beating Florida!
How dare you come on here and talk sensible !!!

We need playmakers in the secondary if Banks is going to commit to playing zone cover.

Right now we don't have them so you either have to commit to stopping the run or containing the pass, but can't do.bith with out some more dudes. If we're still having these issues next year then it's time to look at Banks and his coaches.

This was really the first time we played a zone in the secondary. We have been playing man the first 3 games.

We got pressure when we needed it most tho
Not enough, One sack isn’t gonna get it, Bryce Young will tear you apart.. Anthony Richardson isnt anywhere close to him.. last 2:00 min was very poorly coached.. you can’t do that and beat Bama or Georgia… We didn’t punt once and Florida was in the game and we came close to losing.. That’s very very poor defense and scheming/coaching.. Florida had the right call on every play.

you can’t put everything on coach banks. sometimes, you have to realize it’s some of the talent. once heup gets his top defensive recruits in, we will be better on D.
