TikTok is too influential

The post I quoted is an outright lie and you know it. You follow me around posting the same bs even when presented with the truth. It's what you are on here

You might see it that way but don’t flatter yourself.

The zuck and Musk who are perfectly fine with censoring social media as instructed? The Bezos who removed hosting for opposition sites as instructed?

Just a little had changed since you were in the loop...

As long as we understand that all of them, and Trump, is acting out of self interest, fine.

Of course they are putting the public interest first.

I've never heard of a politician or large business owner putting personal ambition ahead of the greater good.

You might see it that way but don’t flatter yourself.

As I mentioned, I actually think he and I are similar in some ways. iirc The difference appears to be that he thinks through magic... all of this can be repaired, and he is qualified to have major input on that i.e. he's smart. For the record, I'm stupid and I don't think I have the capability to fix this place. I am the only one on the board that I can recall that isn't smart enough to fix it all. I have stated many times why I think that this place can't be repaired. If I am wrong... that might be a good thing? As far as him, if he believes it can be repaired... if he has someone better than Trump he should say so, I don't. For the most part Trump seems like he has his heart in the right place.... he isn't hiding like all these other roaches at least.

Trump is basically what we got.... there simply is nobody else. I wonder if he has thought maybe he is lucky to have Trump at this point?

Maybe people should just let him do his thing for awhile, heck, if he indicts Obama, Biden and Clinton he would probably go down as GOAT in my book. Heck, I probably tease that Orange Bastard more than anyone.

My real issue is people really aren't engaged in honest discussion a large amount of the time. Who is this candidate he supports that is so engaged in modern stupid social media and doesn't use the CAP LOCK. None of these other crack heads that are always wanting to hurt their fellow Americans and women don't care.... they literally didn't care a murderous corrupt senile old man that couldn't find the toilet by himself was in office.

My problem with a few of these posters is not they are dishonest with me... they are dishonest with themselves. (for the record, we can all become delusional at times)

The wind blew. That's it

These guys literally stomped out speech in one of the times it was needed most but they've now changed?

One credit I'll give them is knowing which way the winds are blowing. They saw what just happened in November and what was happening leading up to it. They have adapted because, much like their businesses, they know when they have to adapt. They are still snakes, but even snakes can recognize danger

I'll certainly keep in mind what once was done and keep a wary eye open as I would hope Trump does. But industries that refuse to adapt (think Sears, Boeing and Kodak) eventually end up on the scrapheap of history. Yes, Boeing is getting there...

People acting in their own self interest isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I start a business to sell widgets. I care about my success. Some guy comes along that really wants that widget, for himself. He buys it and we both win.

I realize the illustration is quite simple and naive when comparing it to the relationship between Government and the private sector. But if all these guys working together out of selfish desire provides a net benefit to society, good!

I agree.

I suppose the thing that bothers me -- be it left or right -- is those that are so sanctimonious and claim they THEY are acting out of principle but everyone else is just greedy. And then they are eventually exposed, too.

I will give Trump credit for one thing, and that is that he is more above board than most about personal gain he is getting from all of this. Doesn't mean I'm okay with meme coins, fake Swiss watches, and USA Bibles made in China. And I am quite confident he skirts the rules wherever he can on things like using contributions to the inaugural for other purposes that benefit him.

What does his private business have to do with you? Generally speaking it doesn't.

😂

This isn't a catalog or film this was about fully supporting the efforts of a regime that was trampling on basic human rights. Their efforts affected the lives of millions and likely led to many deaths

But they claim to support Trump now so all good?

Well we may have finally found some agreement here. In my experience people that are sacrificing and pursuing the good of others don’t announce it, they just do it. I’m sure there are politicians and wealthy business owners that truly care about others more than their own self interest. But they most likely lack the willingness to do what it takes to make it to the top of their respective fields. You know, lying, cheating, acting unethically etc.

I know Trump is a narcissist. Is what it is. My problem, similar to yours, is when people try convince me that Obama isn’t as well.

Wait till you tell him Obama is a murderer. (silence)

What you will find out with the usual suspects is they don't care, and what I mean by that is level of caring. They are programmed.

If you really want to play this game about who suppressed the most information during Covid, that list is going to be absurdly long.

We can start with the government (all branches local, state and federal) that played a guessing game on what to do and went with the most draconian measures they could.

Of course, the MSM is complicit in a huge way.

And why stop there when so many health care professionals declined to prescribe potential life saving measures because of what they had been told. They are part of the problem.

How about education officials that kept kids out of school for "safety" and let a significant mental impact.

The list can go on...

Point is, people have woken up to what was done and changed their tune. Some continue to perpetrate the lies that were told. But you can't sit here and play the blame game on everyone. Eventually, the root cancer needs to be hammered.

I don't think I could really remember all the scams these people have pulled, many of which are treasonous in nature or worse. He comes off as trying to defend all this stuff or ignore it.

What has happened to this country by the government, their agents, and others I would argue is significantly worse than what King George and the redcoats were doing. (I actually don't think its close) 🤷‍♂️

At best he is playing pretend, imo.

Now you're changing the discussion from tech you trust to people to influence the current admin to who have nothing to do with current policy. The fact remains that the ones influencing the current potus absolutely have a record of being against freedoms when asked to be. Dissent was shut down yet they were still seated in the front row yesterday. The fact they switched sides so easily should give everyone pause

Funny because I don't trust any of them...

But you were the one that pointed out the information thing and I linked it to covid reporting (or the lack thereof).

Who could ever have seen this coming

Incredible. This was definitely to appease our lawmakers.

I saw some right-wingers freaking out that you can't chat "free tibet" on Marvel Rivals. Let's see the outrage here when it happens on the "public square."

wait. wasn't the Act to shut down tiktok? and Trump has extended how long it can operate? wouldn't that be the opposite of a 1st amendment issue?

I'm thinking that he (due to his position at the advocacy group) had First Amendment concerns with the law itself. But in any case, Congress passed the law, the Supreme Court upheld it, and it's now being ignored . . . because reasons.

yeah its an issue of not upholding a law, not an issue of the Constitutionality of the law that the tweet seemed to imply.
