TikTok is too influential

Plenty more. Trump turned on a dime when the checks rolled in.

The law states the president can grant a one-time extension delaying the ban for up to 90 days under three very specific conditions: TikTok must show it's on a "path to executing" a divesture from its Chinese owner; there must be "evidence of significant progress" toward a sale; and that progress must be sealed with "relevant binding legal agreements."

I'm sure Trump is doing it purely out of principle and the cash had nothing to do with it.

Don't be so naive.

That is pretty interesting. How can they block something from a 'different country'? Maybe VPNs aren't as good as we think.
I used my vpn to ‘go’ to another country this morning and try to use TikTok. It didn’t work. Guess they use some type of geo-location similar to betting apps.

I bet TikTok stored the location associated with your account so it was deactivated so yes, it seems like VPNs won't work.

If there's a brower-based version, I'd still at least try that.

It won’t work on you though. That’s why you gave up twitter.
I love how you keep doubling down on the 30 IQ "Twitter can't be worse if you still use it" thing, please continue. You're still in America so Biden must be great!

Same as you doubling down on the 0 IQ “NYC is the safest place in the world”.
Surely you can point to a place where I said it's "the safest place in the world" given you put that in quotes, and don't just have the reading comprehension of a toddler, right?

...right?

Lol. Didn’t happen to you so it doesn’t exist. Let me post a tweet from the drag show pissing and moaning about twitter.

The guy sells USA bibles (made in China), fake Swiss watches, and now crypto. He's all about making a buck, always has been. Tik Tok exec/investor shows up at Mar-a-lago, dumps millions into the campaign and, its a Saturnalia Miracle! Trump sees the light and intervenes to save the very thing he warned was a national security threat .. repeatedly ... just before the money came in.

Ukraine better step up their game. They don’t have the “big guy” or his crackhead boy anymore.

It's a PR stunt to win over the youth IMO, and it will work on stupid people (most people) just like him signing the stimulus checks did
Why does he need to win over the youth though? He can't run again, he doesn't need their votes.

This is purely political theater.

Ego. Tik tok now represents an opportunity for him to win at something and have people say complimentary things about him on social media. It's what he lives for.

Curious where the change of heart is coming from

View attachment 715768

Would you trust the intelligence community if they said... well... anything? I'm pretty sure on the beginning Trump and others listened intently to what they were saying. And followed the advice.

Four years have passed and he got wise to be wary of what they were telling him. So, a change of heart is plausible.

This whole data thing came from somewhere. My guess is someone in the intelligence field got their knickers in a wad over something and felt like it should be banned. Plus, the government had and has zero control over the platform like they did with FB, Twitter and Google. Or did at least.

Remember when Elon took over Twitter and all the sudden you started seeing investigations? Or after Zuck started moving away from the plantation they started looking into him deeper? They can't do that with Tiktok.

But what they can do is scream and screech about how the Chinese are gonna steal your data and the Big Red Menace is lurking under your bed.

My guess is they weren't happy with how popular it got very quickly and couldn't control it. Hence the change in certain circles.
