It matters a great deal. Most every poster on here seems to be of the opinion that if Jones comes back it will be his last year. A lot of people have also mentioned that when he finally does leave that he will be leaving the next coach with little to work with.

If you do think/hope that he is gone sooner than later, you should hope that he leaves the roster stacked. If you claim he cannot develop talent, then you should still hope that the talent is there for the next guy to develop.

Some of you have absolutely no logic. Every thing you say seems to be filtered through your dislike of CBJ rather than your love for the Vols.

I don't see how they can salvage recruiting for this cycle. Trey Smith is not going to pick TN next week, we are now his 3rd choice apparently. UT has gotten clobbered in-state this cycle and have not done a ton of great work gaining commits out of state.

I don't see them flipping several impact targets at this juncture.

Bajakian was the QB coach for the first two seasons...is a NFL QB coach now. So cut it by two.

I bought a ticket outside the stadium which placed me smack-dab in the middle of a passel of high-school girls performing at halftime. The chaperone had my ticket checked, but could not have me moved. Given that the jail bait had arrived with no allegiance one way or the other, I had them loudly cheering the Vols all game long. They roared Rocky Top!

When I say, does it really matter, I am tying Butch's won/loss results to his class rankings.

If you want to start a different discussion on if recruiting matters for the program in general based on the premise Butch will be gone next year, that is different.

If you want to do whats best for the program, you fired him Monday.

Most assistants work on 2 yr contracts anyway so that shouldn't be much of an issue. Plus if that does happen as long as that assist did his job and his side of the ball played well he wouldn't have trouble getting a new job. Especially a young and very well respected OC like CMH or Applewhite wouldn't be unemployed long if that did happen.Don't think many OC's/QB coach's that are recently unemployed would say no to running an offense that has the quality and talent that he would have at his disposal.With the right OC/QB Coach this offense could be one fun to watch,coach and call plays for.I guarantee CMH has never had close to the QB and WR talent from top to bottom that he would have the minute he stepped on campus. Depending on who we get as our QB for this class we already have 3 Four* QB's that will battle for the starting job and JG was the #1 rated DT QB coming out of HS and his potential is off the charts. They just need the right guy coming in and maximizing their potential. Then the potential and talent at WR would excite just about any OC. Plus we should be really good at RB and TE also and a veteran,SR dominated OLine coming back next year. There again we just need coach's that belong here and not these mid major guys that belong back in the MAC or in the FCS. Butch will have every opportunity to get this sinking ship fixed this offseason and bring real coaching that will put some life back into the fan base and players.It atleast sounds like Butch will make the changes that will put us out from the depths of mediocrity. It's a win win for the fan base. We either see huge improvements next season and can get excited about this upcoming yr or Butch stays the course and the excitement starts after football season next year with a new coaching search. I'm actually very anxious and excited to see what changes he actually makes. And please be true about having Co-OC's that are young and can coach QB's..CMH and CMA are both names that would excite the players,fans and recruits. But still I'm trying to contain my excitement until Butch actually puts aside his stubbornness and does what's best for the players and everyone else around Vol Football.

Do you honestly think this team could pull that off again right now? This team and staff have degraded mightily since the Florida game....and not just because of injuries. A team is judged on the season, and Florida had a better one. One game doesn't change that fact.

When determining who is better you use direct competition every time.

They played and UT won. That is the only scenario that actually happened
