Tidbit from just a vol

I think we get some good recruits soon IMO.

Somebody said it the other day.....Dooley Backers were the same way, they rode that bus till the wheels fell off and everyone else was not a true fan.

It's astonishing how quickly this was forgotten here. We were absolutely trashed, asked to turn in our "fan cards", and even asked to be banned.

lame duck AD...no one else above an AD would even think about firing Butch...those above the AD need someone to blame and they aren't sticking their necks out...Butch is sitting in he catbird seat...doubt it if he goes anywhere at all other than the bank teller window...calling Mr Blackburn...calling Mr Blackburn...:)

GO BUTCH...GO VOLS!

This post is one of the favorites I have read here. I have laughed so hard that I shook for several minutes. Nothing about you, OP. I know you are just relaying what you heard. But considering how our fans are feeling about Butch at the present time and the stoic manner that you delivered this news and the reactions to it, it just brought down the house.

So Butch has been out shopping around and hoping to get out of here.......and he discovers nobody was interested....so he decides since there aren't any other options available now, he's going to give us another go...:thud: On top of that, his agent petitions for another raise and extension from Dave Hart. This is pure comedy. Somebody missed their calling and should be doing stand-up routines in Las Vegas. This is rich. :eek:lol:

I thought you had been shot and killed. Who was the man that shot Liberty Volance?

It's astonishing how similar this situation is to the late Dooley era. You could censor names and have no idea which saga you are reading.

This sounds like a giant spin job; funny that he's "full go" after trying to find a new spot and nobody apparently wanted him.

I mean I get it, he's the coach and I hope for our sakes he works out, but I'm not buying this sudden "all in" stuff.

He's all in, cuz he can't get all out. :eek:lol:

Now....in other news...recruiting's going to be better than many thought! Book it!
no he is not leaving, but does not want to be here... and how is it that recruiting is going to be better, we just had three commits drop(I know grades and mutual separation) and no word on anyone else... you have insider info?

I see behind Alabama, there are a bunch of 8-4 teams and we are one of them. So tied for the second best overall record in the SEC, which is a fact.

You do know that overall record is not what is used to compete for the division championship, right?...Also, Florida will be 9-4, not 8-4.

Fact: We lost to Vandy & SC in the same year.

Fact: We needed to recover a fumble in the endzone to beat App State

Fact:Butch Jones is not capable of planning for a full 60 minutes of football.

I think it is interesting that if Florida loses to bama on Saturday, UT will finish the year ahead of fl in the East and will be tied for second best team in the SEC. Not too shabby considering who is in first place.

To finish second in the sec you must be in the championship game. If Florida loses the order is:

1. Alabama
2. Florida

Sorry, not difficult

UF may have a better record (on a technicality) but they are not better than UT. That line of thought is ridiculous

No they won't; the results of the champiohship are not factored into the final standings. Even if you did, that would be UF's 3rd SEC loss. We have 4.

Nice try though.

What do you mean they "kicked the tires"? Butch inquired about the job or vice versa? That part didn't make a lot of sense.

There are no quality assistants that will come work for a coach in what is quite obviously his last year. And it's really unfortunate, because 2016 should have been lyle's last year here.

Butch is nowhere near as close to being fired as many of you want to think. Better learn to live with it.

Good read. I think Butch staying is a given based on timing and the administrations reluctance to speed things up. If, and it's a big if, Butch gets someone of Helfrich or Applewhite quality and let's them run the offense and let's Shoop get his people and run the D, TN could be in for a very exciting run over the next few years.

Yes, we would be great if Butch had nothing to do with offense, defense, or make gameday calls. Hell, it's almost like we don't even need him...

Yeah, 5-stars love committing to lame-duck coaches who are publicly known to have been job shopping. Just like his win/loss record, his recruiting ranking has hit its high water mark.

We are starting 2017 with a coach that doesn't want to be here, and has looked to leave during two off-seasons. The funny thing is NOBODY ELSE WANTS HIM.

Only at Tennessee....
