I saw a post last year where someone said they had trouble finding tickets on the strip before the game.

Is this typical now days, or was this our of the norm? Do you expect tickets for the Montana game to be available on the strip fairly easy?

I was at UT from 2000-2005 and remember seeing guys selling tickets on Fridays. They are usually everywhere.

You should be able to find tickets about anywhere. Definitely in front of Neyland is where I think you'll have your best luck

No, you'll find more on the strip.

But on the way to the stadium they may be cheaper. There's a lot of scalpers on the strip.

go right out in front of the general neyland statue.... that is the gathering area where you will see plenty go... and usually cheaper as lots of folks are jsut shedding extras on their way in.... but wait 'til about an hour before... this is where I seel extras for family all the time and never have a problem selling... even though their are usually handfulls a plenty

Have any of you addressed the issue this guy is posting about? He clearly asked about last year in how it was the hardest ticket of the year for whatever reason.

Yet you all appear to be dismissing this and just saying it should be easy when it was anything but easy last year.

If you want me honest opinion, i wouldn't chance it. If you can find a decent ticket for a reasonable price, i would jump on it. Last year it was the strangest thing ever. I didn't see a ticket for less than $75 bucks. And i know firsthand because by brother was looking for tickets and I was helping him.

It may have been because it was Dooley's first year, who knows, but regardless, there were 10 people looking to buy tickets for every 1 person selling. Therefore, the prices were ridiculous for a game like UT-Martin.

Anyways, good luck.

...an hour before is too early. 15-20 minutes before you'll get 'em for $10 for Montana. If scalper scoffs, simply shrug your shoulders and say "it's Montana dude" and walk away. He'll make a lower offer. You maintain your $10 stance and say "they'll be worth nothing in 15 minutes"....if he doesn't take, move on to the umpteen other scalpers that are everywhere. I agree you need to be close to the stadium and don't buy from those that have 20 sets in their hands. They're looking for a profit. Look for the people selling that just want to get rid of their tickets and get into the game. I bought Oregon and Florida tickets last year for less than $20...I've also scalped tickets myself and got greedy and just ended up giving them away for free.

Wow. There were empty seats in every game last year. If you paid anywhere close to face value you paid too much.

Wow. You're wrong. No ones talking about ANY other game besides the first game champ.

I never said anything about any other games except for the UT-Martin game. Learn to read. :good!:

The issue last year was that the game didn't come close to selling out, so before long there were no tickets on the street. There were, however, plenty of tickets available at the ticket office. So the problem was that people had to pay face value and stand in line for an hour to get tickets on gameday.

I've heard there were only a limited amount of tickets available at the ticket office the morning of the game and they sold out quickly once people started realizing there weren’t many tickets for sale on the street.

Again, i was there a few hours before kickoff running all over campus from the strip to the riverfront and don't remember the box office selling tickets. I remember will call being busy, but that's about it.

I learned last year it doesn't pay to be too frugal. Guys were selling singles for $100 a pop in front of stadium right before game time & the will call/ticket line was about a mile long. Finally got 2 for $100 about 5mins after kickoff.

The key is patience. Wait until after the team and band enter the stadium. I went several times last year and never paid more than $20 for good seats. Got in free once and the seats were 4 rows up on the 35 yard line. Don't panic and think you are not getting in. I will add the disclaimer that if we go to the swamp and win, then all bets are off. Tickets will get expensive fast. Go early and enjoy.:victory:

If you wait until right before the game you can get a ticket for $10 in front of the stadium. I've done it numerous times over the last few years. Auburn 2008, I got one for $5!

Amen. Some of these guys on here make it seems like rocket science or a nest-egg destroyer to get a ticket to a UT-Martin game, or in this case, Montana.

You obviously don't have clue what went on last year. If there were cheap tickets around for UT Martin the line at the ticket office wouldnt have went the length of the stadium & scalpers wouldn't have been getting $100 for a single.

You guys are hopeless. Seats went empty. If you paid $100 or bought from the box office, you were robbed. Don't shoot the messenger. Remedial negotiation skills must not be used very often in your line of work.

It is what it is but you don't know what you're talking about. You might get lucky & get a ticket dirt cheap on occasion but that's not something everybody banks on every single game. Especially the first game or big games early in the year.

I'm sorry, you don't know what you're talking about. I get that tickets are ordinarily available on the street, but last year, expectations were so low, and the economy was so bad, that tickets didn't even come close to selling out.

For that reason, the ticket office had way way way more tickets left than they typically would for a season opener, and there were less available on the street.

I don't expect it to be that way this year, but it could possibly be the same thing.

That wasn't the case for any game but the home opener that I know of. The bigger games sold out, and you could find tickets anywhere.

Two of the biggest games of the year last, Oregon and Florida, I bought tickets for less than $20 a piece. I guess I got "lucky" two weeks in a row. I should've gone to Vegas. Guess it just hurts someone's ego when they're told they got hosed and don't want to admit it. They'll chalk it up to someone else just getting lucky....Again, it's about patience. It's about having "walk-away" power and it's about confidence (knowing UT is playing FREAKING MONTANA for crying out loud and the fact that 102,037 people are not willing to pay face value to watch Tennessee play a mediocre opponent in this current economic environment. Pay your $70+. Obviously, I can't help you.

How did anybody get hosed? For all we know you're a liar. Most scalpers will eat a ticket before they sell under face value & only go cheaper when the game is well under way. If you go by yourself which is easy to believe you might find a random person to buy from relatively cheap.
