These 60" TVs were available last year weren't they? Didn't you have a comfy couch with beer in the fridge last year. I sold 3 extra pairs of season tickets, 4 extra tickets to the GA game and 2 extra tickets to the LSU game and made enough money to pay for my seats and donation plus some last year. This year I had to take a loss on 1 set of season tickets and didn't take the risk on more.
So the 60" TV and comfy couch comments are nonsense.
The scalper game has always been strong in Knoxville. Glad to see them take a beating the last few years.I'd like to think my TV and sound system are pretty good, and my couch is pretty comfy.
But if I could go to UT's site and buy tickets retail every week instead of having to scalp decent seats for 300 bucks, I'd be at every game at Neyland. And I live in Florida.
The cost of living continues to skyrocket while wages continue to be stagnant. This is the elephant in the room no one seems to want to talk about. A lot of people simply can't afford it anymore.
Your original premise was that playing at home against Utah State was better than West Virginia at a neutral site for an opener. I'm just trying to pin down what you actually believe. If you could see the broader picture, I’m saying games like that gets the momentum going rather than beating ETSU 62-0 at noon for the home opener.
This is where I am now (FF row 21), and I will never give them up as long as I can afford them. I had to sell this yr due to my work schedule. By chance, I sat there for Utah St in 2014 and immediately upgraded to season tickets. I love being able to stand and lean against the club level.
Ticket sales are awful this year? Why are people so down when we have a new coach that might be a great one?
I remember hearing this back when I was a kid... the Tennessee football seasons from 1975-1988 weren't much better than what we have had since 2005. There was one great season in '85... while '83 and '87 were pretty good but didn't end in either a major bowl game or an SEC Championship. Other than that? Those seasons sucked. However, Neyland was never anything but packed from '89 to '04. The fans always come back... and a generation is never completely lost. Just win.Last I heard we have about 63k season ticket holders. That’s impressive for all the nonsense the AD has put us through the last 15 years. I hope it pays off this time but the comments in this thread reinforce the theory that UT needs to start winning or a generation of fans will move on to more fulfilling areas.
You are right... Seeing a potential national champion play is something you can tell a son or grandson for years... saying you watched the worst vols team of all time (record wise) doesn’t help...
Also I think the TV thing you are under selling. It has definitely made the more casual fan less likely to be at the stadium.

I don’t blame anyone for losing interest. The past 2 seasons have been the worst performance in the history of the program.
At least last season they had something to cheer about with two SEC wins, but the wheels feel off the last two games.
Vols should have made a bowl last season and didn’t.
