Thoughts on Vanderbilt

While I hate pretty much every SEC team (I never cheer for an SEC team out of conference), Florida, Vandy, Alabama, and Georgia, are the team that I pull against all the time and actively hate watch.
I ALWAYS pull AGAINST SEC teams when they play out of conference, except UT and most of the time, Auburn. Screw the SEC

I've seen Vandy beat the Vols in person more than my Dad did in the decades he attended Vols games which included Nashville. Mine started with Fulmer. Will be there Saturday and hope that the fire the entire team showed against Fla. isn't gone.

I am surprised some team has not went after their coach (at least make him say no or a big raise) . They have the #55 overall composite talent on 24/7 l and have beaten VT at #40, South Carolina at #18, LSU at #6, Missouri at #22, Auburn at #13, Kentucky at #27, and came close to Texas at #4. They have done more with less than anyone else in the country. I hope UT beats the brakes off of them Saturday, but their coaching results can not be overlooked. Heck if they had talent similar to with the for some reason highly sought after Kiffin at Ole Miss, I give 2:1 that Vandy would win.
Their HC is 25-35 (10-29) in the SEC...

no one wants that loser

I live in mid tn and don’t cheer for them ever. There is a level of arrogance among Vanderbilt graduates, and those who didn’t go there, that’s hard to describe. Dumbest smart people I’ve ever met. Overall, they are an ugly group and their basketball games look like clientele at a Shoneys at 4:30. To boot, from 2 family experiences and many others I’ve connected with, their hospital is overrated. I wouldn’t send my dogs there.
Screw Vandy, Vandy boys, the whistler, Pavia and his brothers, who I hope run their mouths on the strip late Friday night to the wrong people, their arrogant ugly fans and hacks disguised as drs.
Love this excellent accurate comments. Well done.

Add another one to the book of best comments on Volnation.
1. Pre-Madonnas
2. Pocket presents
3. "My level of hatred for ut has no debts."
4. "As far as their fan base is concerned, they are rotten to the corps."
I first read that as corpse. I don't know which version I like better! Thanks for resharing these.

The thing with Vanderbilt is containing Pavia. Our DEs need to be coached hard to ALWAYS key on Pavia and never take the RBs on zone reads. If he does hand the ball off, I suggest the DEs hit him anyway

Secondly, when he drops back to pass, assign a spy to him. Do those two things and we'll be OK

What kills teams playing them this year is when DEs let him get outside. I've seen it time and time again

Honestly, I think we match up well with them. I expect us to win

Exactly. If we play on both sides the same way we did last week - run it down their throat, play mistake-free, and make the QB win with his arm - we will win convincingly on Saturday.

Pavia is only dangerous when plays break down or he can get out of the pocket. Make him a pocket QB and he is mediocre at best.

Vanderbilt is the worst of the worst: a safety school that exists only to let Biff and Baff send their little flunky to some private school and keep them away from those icky public school kids. The school was established after a donation from Cornelius Vanderbilt, who made his money as a robber baron, first running a fleet of ferries in New York City (from which he got his nickname as "Admiral") and then from the parade of corruption and graft that was the westward expansion of the railroad system. The donation was his only "philanthropic" contribution, and only after the relentless henpecking of his second wife, who was also his cousin. He had been married before, to a different cousin. So you could instead of calling them the Commodores call them the Hen-Pecked Cousin Lovers and you'd be portraying the man with more accuracy.

Since the beginning Vanderbilt has been the safety school for the Nashville elite who could not bluster their way into Princeton or Harvard, and they have avoided need-blind admission to further this cause. Like Harvard and Princeton, they do not award scholarships for academic achievement, but unlike actual elite universities they do not offer generous financial aid to anybody in the middle class that they decide to let in, as to discourage local peasants who think they may be able to learn their way into the social elite (ha!). The campus social cliques reinforce the separation of students who belong and those who are let in to bolster the US News rankings, as over 50% of undergraduates belong to Greek societies that at Vanderbilt serve to separate the social lives of the students.

In comedy it's a bad look to make fun of somebody who is vulnerable, as it's simply not funny to "punch down" at anybody. But the supposed "dweebs" at Vanderbilt are in reality the entitled children who couldn't get what they really wanted, and at least have football losses to reinforce some semblance of humility. Making fun of the Vanderbilt fan is never punching down, and is always punching up, and should be encouraged and rewarded.

PREACH!

I’m taking away that if a Vandy fan calls UT a bunch of inbreds, then the only historically accurate response would be “I know you are but what am I?”

Personally, I can’t stand them and this year even moreso. If they win tomorrow not only do they get bragging rights about “owning the state” for an entire year; they’ll most certainly say some BS about having as many CFP appearances as us

Ugh! I just picked up a flight tomorrow right at kickoff so I’ll miss most if it. I think that if Tennessee plays almost mistake free, we’ll win. Must get pressure on pressure situations.

I think the sailors are sort of a wild card team. In the vein of the Cincinnati team that snuck into the playoffs a few years back only to get stomped right off the bat. But they have the capacity due to the river otter - European conger hybrid, QB to suddenly score over and over, unless you keep spear him, or using a salt water casting net on him.

KEY? Id our DL can consistently wreck their OL, we win, otherwise, well. . .

Some amateur thoughts on Vandy. First of all I respect them. They are one of the few good things left in NCAA football. With 2 and 3 stars, a plucky quarterback, and a good coach they have earned a spot on the cusp of the playoffs. Having said that, I feel it is time again for the Vols to put little brother back in his place. I hope Vandy wins every game except the one in Knoxville. I don't hate them like I do the big 3. I believe the Vols will win Saturday, not by the margin of the Florida win but somewhat convincingly. Here's to our Joey over their Diego!
I’m with you here. Vandy has picked above their weight and play with a lot of heart and moxy. I respect that quite a bit.

That being said, your are correct. It’s time to remind the “smart kids” that their place is firmly behind UT in the pecking order. We can and should win this game.

Vandy will then know, that even at their highest climb, Rocky Top is peak they cannot achieve.

Well we had our chances . Won’t really bother me that much if we lose I mean I hate to be playing a team just to be a spoiler role team is all.

I only hate them a little less than I do the big 3. I hate them even less in basketball because I remember the 70s with the F troop.

I don't hate Vandy or Memphis State, or any Tennessee team. I want out of state teams of whatever conference to live in dread of playing a Tennessee team. I want state teams to be lethal poison to any and ll of them.
