Some amateur thoughts on Vandy. First of all I respect them. They are one of the few good things left in NCAA football. With 2 and 3 stars, a plucky quarterback, and a good coach they have earned a spot on the cusp of the playoffs. Having said that, I feel it is time again for the Vols to put little brother back in his place. I hope Vandy wins every game except the one in Knoxville. I don't hate them like I do the big 3. I believe the Vols will win Saturday, not by the margin of the Florida win but somewhat convincingly. Here's to our Joey over their Diego!

I live in mid tn and don’t cheer for them ever. There is a level of arrogance among Vanderbilt graduates, and those who didn’t go there, that’s hard to describe. Dumbest smart people I’ve ever met. Overall, they are an ugly group and their basketball games look like clientele at a Shoneys at 4:30. To boot, from 2 family experiences and many others I’ve connected with, their hospital is overrated. I wouldn’t send my dogs there.
Screw Vandy, Vandy boys, the whistler, Pavia and his brothers, who I hope run their mouths on the strip late Friday night to the wrong people, their arrogant ugly fans and hacks disguised as drs.

I use to pull for Vandy when they weren't playing UT until I moved into the Nashville area. They are some of the vilest, nastiest and egotistical fans out there. A lot of their fans aren't even from Tennessee but their hatred (probably jealousy) for UT is out of this world. I hope they lose every game in every sport.

Amen, brother! We've lived in Nashville for 45 years. Wife worked for vandie 35 of 'em. Though there are a few okay vandie fans, the majority are miserable "sidewalk fans" who are jealous of our VOLS. I refuse to even set foot on that West End landfill. GBO
P.S. I must defend Vanderbilt Hospital. My experiences there are positive, including triple bypass 4 years ago. I'm 77 & feeling grateful.

That is your choice. Stay in the Athletics area and don't let your hate disparage one of the best medical systems in the US. If you choose not to use them, then don't, but stay on topic Jimbo and leave the Medical aspect to them.
As far as the fanbase is concerned, they are rotten to the corps. GA is just as bad, young and old. Alabama fans can be dumber than dirt. Vandy fans can be and are obnoxious as hell as they are always wishing on a star.

The thing with Vanderbilt is containing Pavia. Our DEs need to be coached hard to ALWAYS key on Pavia and never take the RBs on zone reads. If he does hand the ball off, I suggest the DEs hit him anyway

Secondly, when he drops back to pass, assign a spy to him. Do those two things and we'll be OK

What kills teams playing them this year is when DEs let him get outside. I've seen it time and time again

Honestly, I think we match up well with them. I expect us to win

We may want to form a wall and not get upfield as hard even though it goes against how I’d rather play. Make him throw over our DL heads. If we wall up he can’t buy as much time and break out for a run. If we get upfield hard and our DEs get kicked out he will step up and do whatever he wants as I don’t imagine Banks will spy him as we should from play 1.

Same applies for Shelby County Vols and Memphis fans. Egotistical doesn’t apply because they have no reason to be but vile and nasty certainly do. As you said, their hatred/jealousy for UT is off the chart. Been here since 1977 and wouldn’t root for Memphis if they were playing the Taliban.

They have played good this year. But i think the Vols will win in a high scoring game. Vols get in red zone needs to score TDs. Not FGs. If you go back and look at the 3 loses the Vols have. It's only a field goal or a int that gave them the three loses. They had a chance to win all three. Just made a couple mistakes. They were never blown out of any game.

I agree I lived in Madison just outside Nashville off I-65 about 30 years ago and I had to go to the VA hospital right next to Vanderbilt Hospital. one of the worst hospitals I’ve ever been too most of their doctors are foreigners and English is their second language and they are very arrogant and most of the students there are pompous ass rich kids that think native born Tennesseans are beneath them. To compare I used to live in Durham NC and went to the VA hospital there which is also connected to Duke University. Most of the doctors there are very good and the VA hospital is far better than the one in Nashville. So bottom line Vanderbilt isn’t a university that I would ever pull for. I do pull for Duke from time to time. I would love for Tennessee to beat Vandy like they did Florida? Well will see!

I'm from middle TN and I'm so sick of them! Time to put the anchor clowns in their place Saturday. I remember years ago their basketball team was playing a preseason scrimmage against the Chinese Nationals and we were pulling for China! I'll be there Saturday and I'm not planning on bringing my voice back with me!

And I don't ever refer to them as little brother! They are not family!

Vandy won a baseball natty and their fans believe it made them elite in all sports. Combine that ignorance with this year’s feel good team and there you have it. Greatest team in the history of football.

The funny part, the majority of their “fans” can’t tell you where Diego transfered from or who Stowers is or when Clark Lea last played.

This year's Vandy team reminds me of an old friend from years ago. Steve ran his mouth all the time. I mean, to the point he never saw the azz whipping that was headed his way. The only difference is I won't be there to help Vandy. I finally had to let Steve go be Steve alone. Just for the record, he ended up in prison.

Vanderbilt is the worst of the worst: a safety school that exists only to let Biff and Baff send their little flunky to some private school and keep them away from those icky public school kids. The school was established after a donation from Cornelius Vanderbilt, who made his money as a robber baron, first running a fleet of ferries in New York City (from which he got his nickname as "Admiral") and then from the parade of corruption and graft that was the westward expansion of the railroad system. The donation was his only "philanthropic" contribution, and only after the relentless henpecking of his second wife, who was also his cousin. He had been married before, to a different cousin. So you could instead of calling them the Commodores call them the Hen-Pecked Cousin Lovers and you'd be portraying the man with more accuracy.

Since the beginning Vanderbilt has been the safety school for the Nashville elite who could not bluster their way into Princeton or Harvard, and they have avoided need-blind admission to further this cause. Like Harvard and Princeton, they do not award scholarships for academic achievement, but unlike actual elite universities they do not offer generous financial aid to anybody in the middle class that they decide to let in, as to discourage local peasants who think they may be able to learn their way into the social elite (ha!). The campus social cliques reinforce the separation of students who belong and those who are let in to bolster the US News rankings, as over 50% of undergraduates belong to Greek societies that at Vanderbilt serve to separate the social lives of the students.

In comedy it's a bad look to make fun of somebody who is vulnerable, as it's simply not funny to "punch down" at anybody. But the supposed "dweebs" at Vanderbilt are in reality the entitled children who couldn't get what they really wanted, and at least have football losses to reinforce some semblance of humility. Making fun of the Vanderbilt fan is never punching down, and is always punching up, and should be encouraged and rewarded.
