Thoughts on the game from a Gator (merged)

Bla, Bll, Bla BlaBla, Bla, Bla. Excuses Excuses, The only dang team member Florida has is tebow. and im sorry but he will not run threw the rest of the Sec top teams. I mean think about this, we are not even ranked and have 80% freshman starting Vs a number 1 ranked team who has more veterans starting. and we only lost by 10 points. Every one sees it for what it is, and im sorry but this will not be the gators year. your team and apparently your fans are wayyy to arrogant to realize this. and that will be your downfall..

So i highly beleave it will be a waste of your time coming on here talking trash. i mean step outside the box here. do you really think it would be worth my time to go to a gators board and talk about how the headlines are GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Tennessee beat Florida, 13-23, on Saturday in The Swamp.

I highly think that would be a waste of my time and yours. you wont change our mind and we wont change yours

I will say this and admit it. you do have a very bad @$$ QB, to sad he will be forgotten when he goes to NFL,

Clearly this guy didn't watch the game ..or he is an ex ping-pong player and didn't really know what he was looking at .

1. It was clear that it was Kiffin’s strategy not to win, but rather to keep from being blown out. This was obvious in the 3rd quarter when with 8 minutes left and down 10 points, they were content running for short gains and burning clock.

When you have no QB production , and two productive running backs and an offensive line that has been winning the match up all day , it is a viable strategy . It doesn't take long to score seven and when your D has been posting 3 and outs ...it was the right way to play.

2. Because Florida is dominating on defense and Tennessee has no quarterback, UF called a conservative game. There were no throws downfield, although some were called, no trick plays or reverses, and a ton of Tebow. They played in safe mode much like last year’s win.

They called a conservative game because they A) could not block the ends B) had no idea where the blitz , stunts were coming from C ) could not deduce the coverage because Monte disguised it so well . That is what makes him the best D ) could not beat man coverage

This was not Florida choice ...this was put on them .

3. Eric Berry is a hell of a football player.

See #2 ...he is one of the biggest reasons A-D was possible

4. It was almost a blowout. If not for Tebow's fumble at the four, Florida likely would have gone up 30-6, the same score it won by last year.

Again , not a Florida choice . Monte's D 's are all time leaders in forcing turnovers , stripping , gang tackeling , and disguised coverages all produce turnovers . Just look at the numbers for his units . Yesterday was no different. I could counter your 'If not but for ' argument with ...If not but for John Cromptons interceptions , UT would have won outright .

5. It was much more of an Urban vs Monte game than Urban vs Lane.

Urban doesn't call the plays . Kiffin calls the plays at UT and converted alot of 1st downs . I would say it was a total coaching effort on both side ...Monte was the clear cut superstar however .

6. Tennessee lost by “only 10” but the game stats clearly show a UF domination as the Gators had a sizeable edge in every single statistical category across the board- particularly 208 yards rushing and a 4.7 per carry average.

This is where your Ping pong background doesn't help . This was Florida's lowest offensive output since scoring 17 points against Auburn in 2007 . A dominantion would have been if they had covered the betting line of 28.5 . This was no domination .

7. Tim Tebow had one of his worst games and was still the most dominating player on the field.

I agree . Tebow is a game changer . Again though ...his bad game was brought on by the defense he was playing . Monte gave him his first taste of the NFL ...and showed us why he is a 4th round pick .

8. This 10 point loss will likely go down as Lane Kiffin’s greatest coaching victory.

His greatest victory will be in a couple of years when he has crashed the recruiting boards for awhile and has his recruits on the field and has servicable QB . There are maybe 5-6 NFL caliber players on the field at UT with several walk-ons playing notable roles , and a bunch of guys that have not been on the field before . When they line up in couple of years with 11-15 NFL caliber players and beat UF by 28....that will be his moment . Just keep track of the recruiting boards if you want to see how this is shaping up .

Congrats to the Vol Nation on your empowering 10 point loss. Perhaps soon you can celebrate a meaningful 3 point loss. Best of luck during the rest of the season and be sure to tune in to the BCS title game to see the Gators represent the SEC in Pasadena.[/QUOTE]

DON'T BY YOUR TICKETS YET !!! They will need to beat LSU ...and even if ...there is no way they can beat ALABAMA this season .

Hey you forgot the new reason that Myer is tauting The Flu..i jsut found this story by ESPN's Chris Lowe.

I have learned that Commisioner Slive has already contacted the Swine Flu , on Behave of Urban Meyer, for causing the poor play by the ALL MIGHTY GATORS. Meyers Addressed having to adjust to the Brash and cocky Swine Flu following the game citing "It is at a panic level of proportion I've never seen before," . I have also learned that a televised apology will come today at 3:30pm est. so that the Virus can apologize in front of the country to the University Of Florida for affecting its players in this weeks game. The virus stated he was just "doing what he does" and that it did not realize that Meyer and the Gators are above illness and are "not to be touched". Analysts are already predicting that Meyer will get Revenge on the the Swine Flu by massacering at least 50-60 pigs during the Gators next PicNic and having BBQ all nite long ,because we all know you dont mess with Urban Meyer, remember Georgia 2008 , although HMMM didnt they have like 15 players lost to season ending injuries last year..Anyway. . On a similar note, i have also learned that do to Spikes ankle problem that the Gators are also investigating the " Injury Bug" to see if he too could be to blame . This is pending but Coach Meyer isnt waiting to take a chance and has already started handing out fly swats , hanging bug zappers and putting up several citronella Candels around the Picnic site to deter the Injury Bugs from coming and to be prepared if they do show. Clearly all this put the Powerhouse Gators and its
coaching staff at a huge disadvantage over the visting Volunteers , and most teams would have cetainly buckled under the pressure, however through the grace of Meyer and Tebow the gators still found a way to overcome and come out on top.

It isn't in Meyer's nature to play conservative. If UF could have ran it up they would have. Face it, that was their best shot.

As for dominating on defense, UF did not have to defend the pass. They knew 95% of plays would be runs. I would be surprised if that defense gets you to the NC game.

Jeez ...lets hope that they get some pictures of these bad bugs up in the locker room soon ...bullitin board material can never hurt . Tebow is due for another cry ...they need a new plaque too !!!

I can practically see the nervousness bleeding through the computer screen.

Your mighty Gators are perhaps not so mighty after all.

You wanted, you hoped for, you EXPECTED there to be bloodshed on the field. You wanted Urban calling time outs with seconds to go in the fourth quarter to rub it in. You wanted Lane Kiffin to look embarrassed and befuddled.

You didn't get it. And you didn't get it because you were outcoached and outplayed.

And it's driving you craaaaaaaazy.
I'm not so sure. Most gators really are that 1) delusional, 2) football IQ stupid, and 3) unable to hearsee, or fathom the gathering storm that is upon them and the rest of the SEC

Face it Mr. Small Bits and the rest of those Gator fans that say UF was trying to stay conservative...B S !!!

That's it. End of story.

Child Please! you wanted to win by 70. Don't be trying to get on the Vol band wagon. take your ten points and we'll see you next year. Ohio next GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know I am soooooo sick of hearing " this game really pretty much was a blowout" from all these goons. I had to hear it on ESPN Sports Reporters this morning from that black headed guy with his hair oddly folded over his ears, whats his name? This moron said the same thing as him. Saying that it was a blowout Tebow's fumble just made it look close. Well you know what Lord Tebow did fumble and it did make the game close. Just because they had a decent lead before that does not change that fact that it DID happen.

PS.......was anyone else annoyed at the sideline lady. After the game the first thing she had to say was, well your not gonna get to sing Rocky Top all night long. CLK handled it perfect by saying I cant hear you the band is playing Rocky Top. It was also classless how Vern and the CBS crew were saying that we did not want to come out and play before the game just because Coach O was doing his usual pregame pump up session.....with all that said, the media sucks, hopefully they will come around soon.

Go Vols the future looks so so so bright!

And I sure as hell won't see Florida playing in the NC game. You sound alot like my neighbor who is a big UF fan. I guess he is my neighbor, I mean he doesn't pay the mortgage but lives there with his in laws, 5 yr old, and his pregnant wife. I swear this is a true statement.

If you watcfh the replay Tebow was stripped, he didn't just lay it on the carpet of bobble the ball, he had it taken from him.

Ok did you even realize that this is the first lead FL has EVER had in the series. And no it's not evident that CLK coached to lose the game, if he coached to keep the score close Ummmmmm isn't that the goal?? Cuz I know 90% of you "Gator" fans are bandwagon riders ( how does a Gator fan live in NY?) let me explain something to you since you obviously don't know much about football if you are keeping the score close that means you are in position to win the game. Ya with me so far? Just cuz Kiffin didn't throw the football 50 times doesn't mean you are playing to lose, it just means you are playing to the strengths of your team. Secondly maybe Urban Cryer called it conservative cuz he was afraid to throw it down the middle with ERIC BERRY afraid Teblow would have turned it over more. Minus Tim Tebow Fla loses that game. And yea he is a senior so get ready for your lil winning streak to be over next yea in Knoxville.

Exactly where in NYC do you live? I think nowhere. Also, please quit smoking crack and posting.Obviously you are intellectually challenged when it comes to game analogy.
