Not nearly as thin as Fulmer's when he was hired.1997-1998 Fresno State
(quarterbacks coach)
1999-2000 Colorado State
(offensive line coach)
2001 Southern California
(tight ends coach)
2002-2006 Southern California
(wide receivers coach)
2005-2006 Southern California
(offensive coordinator)
2007 - present Oakland Raiders
(head coach)
Thin resume.

1 year as an NFL head coach trumps any number of years at outhouse programs like Wichita State and Vanderbilt.Fulmer had almost 20 years experience coaching (3 years as OC) when he became HC.
Kiffin has a little more than half that experience and SEEMS to have gotten some of those jobs through his Father's connections.
Little thin resume-wise. Just sayin'.

There's a better chance one of the VN members will be drawn randomly to coach UT than there is of prying Bob Stoops from Oklahoma. He is at the top of my list by default.
My #1 is Bob Stoops. He would be stupid to leave OU for UT and he is the only coach who is making a guaranteed $3m a year. However, guranteee him $4mil and he might listen.
#2 Jon Gruden but economically not going to happen. He makes about $4.5 million a year and is the highest paid professional sports coach in the nation.
Kiffin is #3. He was the recruiting coordinator for the Trojans after Chow left. He pulled Patrick Turner from UT. He has a national recruiting presence and could expand our California connections. Plus, he has as many NFL connections as anybody with his dad's and his own connections.
#4 Jim Grobe. He doesn't appear to be a fluke and does more with nothing than anybody else.
#5 is the Mendenahall guy from BYU. They haven't had a top 50 recruiting class since he's been there I don't believe and still beats up the PAC 10 and MWC with a bunch of no name Mormons.
Darkhorse canidate: Tommy Tuberville. Him and Fulmer have the same agent so it would be difficult. However, Tubs will listen to any offer, and he's ready to get out of bama. He is already been there 10 years so he will retire from the state of alabama now. He could retire from UT and draw double checks for the rest of his life.
