Those of Us Who NEED to Eat Crow

There's a difference between getting back on our feet and competing for championships. This team is a night and day's difference from how the season started. Whatever or however the switch was made, I hope it remains for the rest of this year and beyond. CP could very well prove he is the right man for the job. With the way things are headed, I'm going to enjoy the ride.

Me personally I've never second guessed coach Pruitt. The reason I believe he is the right guy is because coach Fulmer hired him. Fulmer knows in my opinion what a good coach for Tennessee looks like.

If you don’t see improvement you’re blind.
If you don’t see an attitude and paradigm shift then you willfully looking the other way.

Some teams improve between years and they’re pretty much the same team all year long. Others are much better at the end than the beginning. The Tennessee team that played last night would beat week 1 Tennessee by 49 points.

The reality is that the 2 early losses really helped the coach say “F-it, I’m only playing those who want to be here and chasing off the rest”. The other reality is they obviously have been working their asses off. They did just kick the hell out of a team who 1) has a coach who has never lost to Tennessee 2) has beaten Ga and who was close to beating Florida. That kinda performance doesn’t just happen without work. And this is the 3rd week in a row of solid football. could we have setbacks? Sure. Does the trend over the last few years indicate that it’s likely? I believe it does. But is this year different and does the trend for this season indicate that it’s likely we regress? I think it does not.

I’ve said many times on here that Tennessee isn’t winning another championship in my lifetime. For the first time I think there’s a glimmer of hope. Just like my buddy @hog88 , I’ll let you know after the season but I haven’t seen Tennessee football like last night in years!!! And I’m pretty excited about it.

End rant/

I'm not eating crow. Team is playing better, but they should have been playing better to start the season.

I'm not sold on Pruitt yet. He needs to pick it up in recruiting, and start winning more games.

Yeah, I'm sure everyone will come up with whatever reason they can to convince me why we lost to Ga State and BYU.

I will agree that the last 2-3 games have been really well coached. It's just too small a sample size to say Pruitt is the one.
Perfectly stated.

I never doubted Pruitt, but I was disappointed with the coaches the first 2 games. I have and will continue to be on the CJP bandwagon no matter the results the rest of the season.

LOL. This is pretty much all OP said...

We looked like a mess early season and I felt the team was lost. He has proven me wrong. I don’t need wins in a rebuild right away but I need to see good fundamental football being played and I gotta see improvement. It’s there now.

...but by all means feel free to just totally make up a narrative to argue against.

Thank you. I’m not saying give him a raise, we should be satisfied with 7 wins a year or any other nonsense. Give me a BREAK! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I’m one of the few Vols in Wisconsin. Before the season started I was SO on the Pruitt wagon. I personally liked all I saw and heard from him. I’m a communications major and had NO problem with his “aight” and not so articulate pressers. I thought he “fit” UT better than the past few coaches. I never bought Butch or whatever his name was but I did buy Lane. Vacationed in Tennessee this summer and we took our kids to campus and fan day and I so hoped to by some miracle meet Pruitt even for a second. But...

I fell off HARD after BYU. We looked like a mess early season and I felt the team was lost. He has proven me wrong. I don’t need wins in a rebuild right away but I need to see good fundamental football being played and I gotta see improvement. It’s there now. I’m back on board and in hindsight I shouldn’t have let a couple of BAD losses cause me to overreact.

If anyone else feels the need to eat crow join in!
I just want to see consistency, and improvement from week to week and I’m seeing that right now , I’m pleased seems like he has a better hold on the team right now and early it looked like he had no clue what he was doing , so I wouldn’t say eat crow when you lose to Ga state and BYU back to back but so far good job rebounding

I’ll get back to you after season 3.
I agree. The crow is in the freezer until December 2020. Asking people to eat crow now is just as bad as saying Pruitt is not the answer after the BYU game.

The jury is out until December 2020. Nothing more, nothing less.

You're right Behr!
Maybe some people find a satisfaction in others being wrong, I for one, hope people are willing to change their mind should circumstances change. GBO!!

No satisfaction, but I believe if you say non-factual statements and are proven wrong there should be some ownership. Hence the idea of figuratively eating crow.

I’ve supported the program far longer than you’ve probably been alive.

Life sure is unfair isn't it Wm. If you're lucky you live to a ripe old age and acquire a lot of knowledge through life experiences then you get dementia and can't remember it. Sux

I never recall Vol fans celebrating 3-5 records. Enlighten me. It was a nice win. One that was overdue but Tennessee football wasn’t built on even 6-6 or 7-5 records. Read alittle more and post less. You might learn something.

Whoa! Sorry you misunderstood me, I wasn't clear. I wasn't even talking about football. I was talking about getting older because I am an old fart.

What I’m amazed at is people that wanted to get rid of a second year coach 2 games into the season, but everyone refusing to recognize how terrible BJ was on year 4&5. Sure BJ won games but the writing was on the wall and most didn’t want to admit it. Add to all that UT didn’t exactly attract great coaches last time even if they came off the money, it wouldn’t be easy after getting rid of a coach during is second season. Then add to it the cost of paying JP, his staff, BJ and his staff, and a new coach and his staff!?!? People are insane. Bottom line is it doesn’t matter how JP does he’s here for the next few years, let’s just hope for the best.

Huge wins over Perineal powerhouses Chattanooga, Miss St and S Carolina! Still got to get thru the gauntlet of UAB, Mizzou, UK and Vandy! If we win these 7 games we should be ranked based on SOS alone! 🤣

Time waits for no one.
My mother died of Alzheimer's in 2010 so I'm hoping I miss out on it.
Have a good one.
