Apparently a good team is defined by having a bunch of players who score a lot of points. Never mind the chemistry of the team having any bearing on how good a team is.

In terms of total recruiting stars we will be one of the worst in the SEC. You don't know what you are talking about at all.

LSU added 2 5* and another top 80 player in 2013 for a Top ten class finish and they're sitting at home right now.

Haha, good job picking out like 1 sentance out of the entire thing. But you do have a point, and I was a little stumped how to phrase that because I was aware. But I meant more like in general and probably playing all these 3 teams where they are right now in the season. Like if Umass, Iowa and Mercer were all where they are now, but it was regular season still and not tournament yet. Beating them all in a row where they are now in the season wouldn't have been that big of a deal to get people to be 100% sold on Cuonzo. That's more of what I was getting at. I feel once the tournament starts, most fans get the basketball equivalent of "beer-goggles" and things seem a lot more impressive than they might be. Anyways, I just had to get that out. But as I said, I'm just as excited as the next guy, I was wearing my Vols jersey from Tuesday until sunday without washing it and going nuts. Really excited about this team, but just wanted to get some realistic points out.

The goal is to win the tournament. Once the tournament starts, nothing else matters. If you were to ask Wichita State if they would be willing to trade seasons with U.T. right now, I'm sure they would.

Skylar mcbee is a better defender than Barton. Barton has lost the pg battle 85-90% of the time. Weve had some of the worst PG play in the entire country from the power conferences. It continues to be the glaring weakness in our starting 5 going forward. Whether we would be at this juncture is completely conjecture but to claim barton has come in and elevated this basketball team with his great PG play is absolute trash.

Barton has managed this team to a sweet 16 appearance while playing D, not turning it over, hitting some key shots, and getting the ball to the right players (stokes/jrich/mcrae), instead of ball hogging his way to watch on tv at home as your boy is doing. Again.

Basketball 101. I don't think you've taken the course yet. First lesson is above. If you weren't so biased and angry, you'd look at the info I have posted and would realize this team is better exactly how Barton is playing. The hottest team around, if you haven't heard. Wins, stats, play on the court...none of it leans your way. Denial is fine, but you are embarrassing yourself.

This team has gotten to where it is in spite of Barton and the PG play. It was barely in the NCAA tournament because of Barton. There aren't many PGs out there who could play worse than he did. He was the difference between winning and losing in a positive way probably once the entire season. And again, he is the glaring weakness on this basketball team going forward.

Agree. His past recruiting has been below average. Except for Richardson and Stokes, everyone else has been below average to nonexistent. Hopefully, the incoming class will change things

Moore has been a pleasant surprise. His recent success on offense, while minor in point totals, has been an added bonus to his defense and overwhelming athleticism.

Missing out on the white kid from Memphis hurt. (yes i know he's at home eating Doritos)

And despite the fact that they will lose several of their top guys they will still be significantly better than us next year.

Do you always make absolute statements about things that haven't happened yet? I find that interesting.

The difference is that I'm stating something that is a fact and you're stating something that is an opinion.

From what I can tell, he likes to state things that you can't prove either way as fact, and then say, see, you can't prove me wrong. It's a pretty interesting way to argue.

I am stoked about how the Vols are doing as much as the next guy. But even though I don't think this is a great thread, it's a good place for me to throw out some stuff that I haven't really been able to post on other threads.

Yes this team is in the sweet 16, much better than anyone predicted, but we have beat 3 teams that aren't anything to get excited about. Tell me if we played Iowa, Umass and Mercer 3 games in a row in the regular season if people would be saying "Cuonzo is a great coach, I was wrong." Probably not. I realize this is the tourney and the hype is there, but I don't know about this much crow eating already. We don't need to make 10 threads about Cuonzo needs an extention. It's impressive what they're doing and how they're doing it, but let's not make more of it then what it is. We have gotten a very favourable path to the sweet 16, arguably better than most of the other teams. Umass was a 6 seed in their conference tournament and were probably one of the worst seedings the ncaa has made in a long time. I love this team, I think we can beat michigan, but I don't think I'm ready to say "Cuonzo is a top tier coach, lets give him a 4 year extension" because of what's happened so far. I'm not saying we should expect him to get us to the final four, but if we did this year, then I would be like "okay, this guy might be the long term guy" but we haven't really beaten anyone this year besides virginia, who wasn't THAT big a deal at the time, that we were supposed to lose to. We were predicted to win all 3 games so far. Let's see how we handle Michigan and possibly the team after that before we start going 100% "Cuonzo is an amazing coach who deserves an extension" because most people wanted him gone until 5 minutes left in the Iowa game. Emotions can get the better of us, we're only human, but I'm just trying to be realistic here so I don't see all the same fans here asking for his head after next year's team starts off just as slow as his previous 2 seasons and this season did. He will have a lot to prove, so say we lose Michigan, I will still count this a succesful season, but I don't think Martin has earned a contract with just getting the sweet 16 the way we did. I've said it all the time, he will earn his contract by showing he can take a far less experienced team next year and having a good season. That is all.

Lets go vols and get us some wolverine skinned coats on friday! GBO!

I'm proud of the Vols and happy to be in the Sweet 16, and happy that the team is playing well. We SHOULD play well--we have some talent. But it is also true that we haven't played anybody good yet. Michigan is good, so let's see how we fare on Friday. I want to see us beat michigan much like we beat osu to get to the elite 8 under Pearl a few years ago--that was great.

Class of 2013 are freshman. You stated an irrelevant fact that makes no sense. Are our freshman better than LSU's because their team is still playing? Gtfo

Iowa beat the brakes off of Michigan in the regular season.

So is it a fact that L.S.U. is a better than U.T. in the future?

It hasn't overachieved, and the program still is in bad shape. Why in the world anyone thinks that a team playing the way it should have all along and beating Iowa, UMASS, and Mercer, deserves an apology for the garbage that we saw all year is just weird. Martin has earned himself another year, has he proven himself to be anything other than a mediocre coach and a terrible recruiter? NO. Unless he is able to parlay this into completely redoing his recruiting class the future remains bleak. The talent level next year will not be mediocre, it will be flat out bad. Some people act as if "we made the sweet 16 so I guess the program is in great shape going forward" Bull fing crap.

In other news, OP still proves that he will never be able to redeem himself for the ridiculousness that spews from his fingertips and onto VolNation nearly every time they touch a keyboard. :banghead2:

Its a fact that the earth is round. Stating an irrelevant fact doesn't win you an argument.

Ok, it is a fact that the earth is round. Now we are getting somewhere, I'm proud of you!

It is an opinion that U.T. will be terrible next year, and yet, you are attempting to represent it as a fact. Just because you say something is going to happen in the future, does not mean it is going to happen.

This has been a short tutorial on the difference between fact and opinion.

You can't just pick and choose things to be "relevant". You've talked about Hubbs as if he isn't relevant enough to make an impact next season for Tennessee yet you're claiming that LSU's freshman will make them much better than us next season while underachieving so much this season. That makes no sense

It really is hard to tell

I've seen him post on other topics though, such as how bad wilbekin and Florida is and how great Craft and OSU are....so I'm leaning towards completely full of ****

Attention whore. That is all he is. We have all met those people in life, and they are on message boards, too.
