JG just seems to be a true dual-threat QB that UT molded into a pro-style QB. I think running the ball would would loosen him up some and improve his throwing accuracy. Success running might improve his confidence and momentum.
However, his inability to not "stare-down" a receiver is down right uncanny. The IN DBs were simply reading his eyes and following his head motion. It's a wonder he didn't have 2-3 more picks. Thankfully, from the video I've seen, HB is very good at "looking off" DBs in favor or a receiver. He is a true pro-style QB.
I'm not making excuses for JG. I too wish he would move on. He fit CBJ's philosophy (which is still the philosophy at Cincy).
Anything but a dual threat. Not sure what they saw there coming out of Highschool but it never materialized.JG just seems to be a true dual-threat QB that UT molded into a pro-style QB. You realize he isn't a dual threat right? That guy has never been a rushing threat.......
Appears to me he can not process what he is seeing. He knows when he goes to the line that he is going to throw the ball to X ans he either forces it to X or he hits the check down IF he has not waited too long. He does not appear to be going through progressions. This could be due to how rushed he was two years ago and maybe he can not reset his mental clock to realize he has a little more time. The thing I noticed about Guarantano last night was how he was a little high on at least two throws to the end zone, the fades to Calloway were just a little too long, and on two occasions, he threw to a receiver who was covered, when if he looks right, he had Palmer running into the end zone wide open. He just locks on to a particular receiver and doesn't look for another option. That almost cost them the game last night.
