Yep, you hire a mid major coach and then let him just bring over his mid major staff and give them big raises, you're probably going to end up with mid major talent.

There's really no excuse for this. You got out-recruited by Vanderbilt. You got your a$$ handed to you by Ole Miss. You've only had two months? Well so has Gus Malzahn and look at his class.

Penn State got the virtual death penalty and Bill O'Brien is still out-recruiting Butch Jones.

I've given Jones the benefit of the doubt up until now, but today I have to say it looks like he'll never get us back to the top of the SEC.

This is what happens when you lose games you should win over the course of years. Butch wins games then we start getting the recruits.

Auburn has a proven record that Tennessee does NOT have.

That record of being able to blatantly cheat, giving recruits ATM cards loaded with money, which are not traceable. They have a history of giving recruits "dates" with known prostitutes and most importantly NOT GETTING CAUGHT.

Well said

Idiotic, stupid reaction by the original OP without ever seeing CBJ work with our team and have a full year under his belt.

Yeah, I've seen how this dance goes. "Wait until he coaches his first game before you make an evaluation" then "Wait until the first season is over before you make an evaluation" then "Wait three years before you make an evaluation"...we've been down that road before and it doesn't end well. There's no reason to suspect that someone who fails at recruiting (and today was an utter failure when you look at what schools like Ole Miss, Auburn, and even Vanderbilt have done) will ever be able to succeed at a high level in the SEC.

The new staff just got here--and Tennessee the state has no players. The coaches got in on players that I did not expect to be in on, frankly. Next year will be better--IF we can win some games. It's hard to get great players when you've not been good for 10 years. That's the bottom line. auburn is in a state with lots more high school talent and won a title recently, but yea, they and bama both cheat--big-time.

quit making excuses. This staff sucks and this team sucks even worse. Its funny how you will constantly predict top 10 classes and 10 win seasons year in and year out. But when we have sucked at recruiting for 5 years and had losing seasons for 5 years you wont admit we are terrible. Dont even get me started on our financial situation. we have a joke basketball coach and a big east staff leading a football program. HAve fun guys.

Root for the ducks then. CBJ hasn't coached scrimmage here yet much less a game. Give up and go the f on. When we win a few that were not expected to then please dont come back!

Auburn's staff already had a top 10 class to RETAIN... we had a class in the 40s that we had to IMPROVE. There's a big difference there.

Slippery slope argument isn't a real argument.

Gene Chizik was a terrible coach, but he was still RECRUITING before being fired. We didn't have that luxury. Dooley had such a good class in his first season because Kiffin had still been out recruiting before bolting to USC. All Dooley had to do was retain as many commits as possible.

I don't care what the ranking was. You can always find an excuse if you want to. Doesn't change the fact that this class is near the bottom of the SEC.

of course you don't care since it makes your argument look absolutely ridiculous.

Much easier to hold on to committed recruits instead of flying all over to try and build a relationship and flip players in 2 months
