This has always been a 5 year rebuild

Why are none of the Sunshine Pumpers, you know the Guys that just KNOW we need to give CP a full Five Years dodging the question? Would you give CP a five year contract extension? Would that extension come with a raise? I guess they need more time to spin their BS, as it is a simple question!!! If we need to give CP five years, then we need to give him a five year contract, plain and simple (like the sunshine pumpers).

To be sure CP is going to stay for a full five years, would you give him a contract extension, and perhaps a big raise???

He signed a 6 year deal and I dont see having to give him an extension for him to stay to year 5. After year 5 he would have hopefully earn an extension so he wouldn't be a lame duck coach going into his finally year of this contract. We shall see.

If we want to win is going to take bringing in an experienced guy with some baggage....... Or we could just continue to go with guys with no experience at this level and hope to get lucky one day.
I totally get that, and I suppose he would be as good as any other, but he could just up and leave us Kiffin style, then what?

You may be on to something..Remember Pruitt inherited a team without 1 person being drafted in his first year..Nick Saban also inherited a team at Bama that didnt have one player drafted by the NFL in his first yr..And it took him 5 yrs to rebuild!!!!
Actually, if you look at the facts, Saban's first three games as HC for Bama, were Big W's, for his first game- his team scored over 50 points-I'd find someone else to compare CP with...….just saying. BTW, he took his team to a bowl that year, lost, but ended 6-6, during the first of his "building years". There is some cabbage to chew on.

We would be in better shape to make a quality hire than we are right now

I was being facetious as most people would recognize...Saban went 12-2 in his 2nd year and won the NC in his 3rd!!

IF after five years (I hope not) the program is where it is now, that would be winless, couldn't those making the five year argument still use the same illogical plea? At what point would the sunshine pumpers ever agree that it is time to "Cut our loss"???

This program is in a perpetual rebuild and people are tired.

After a decade of being told to keep our expectations low, fans want to see improvement. I agree with you....this is a five year deal, but this fan base needs to see something to hang our hats on, myself included.

The whole team played with better effort.

Pruitt’s recruits are the best players on the field.

This has always been a 5 year rebuild.

A negaVol like me shouldn’t have to talk you off the ledge. Give Pruitt more time.
BS. How much time do you need at UT to not lose to Georgia State?

And to folks saying Pruitt will be around for awhile no matter what, what I Gods name makes you think he’s not canned if this team only wins 2-3 games? Which is extreeeemely possible.

Finding ways to lose a game you have won is so Tennessee. How many times in the last secs are these people going to let a ball get completed over their head?

What coach is going to come here after you folks with the pitchforks run Pruitt off? It's insanity to think firing Pruitt is going to turn the program around. It'll be even worse.

How do you get worse than being 0-2 and losing to 2 Group 5 teams at our beloved Neyland stadium with a raucous crowd . Even though they suffered through losing to the # 126th rated team out of 130 last week.

When do the five years start?! Because we have been not great since 2008

I also have a feeling the locker room isn’t about him because he’s trying to push the “bama way” and Tennessee players aren’t about the bama crap.

The is the first accurate post I’ve read in a while. Yes, this is it. “Tennessee players aren’t about the Bama crap.”

Alabama wins. Alabama sets metrics, goals, and objectives for every position. Alabama demands discipline to execute every play perfectly.

Tennessee doesn’t. Tennessee doesn’t need that crap. Just suit up and play hard. Practice is for losers. Team spirit? That’s for the other guy. Prepare? We don’t need to prepare.

Rant over. Pruitt told the players face to face they stink. And that he would replace every single one until he had 95 players who had the discipline, conditioning and mental attitude to play championship ball.

Personally, I like what Pruitt is doing. He is giving the program the enema it so desperately needs after years of malpractice.

I think that may be a possibility. Even if Mike Leach came here, what makes people think it would be instantaneous? His first few years there at Washington were horrible.

Its a new 5 year plan with each new coach. So i agree with others its a 20 year plan or longer.

Good point and honestly there isn’t a real choice. We cannot afford to fire him and get a proven winner. We have to hope he succeeds.

It wouldn’t be. Leach is a system guy that needs the right guys to be successful. Most coaches are that way.

Just listened to Urban talk about TN on FS1. He said people say you can't recruit to TN but he said that's not true that the state has great high school talent and TN is a top 10 job in college football. He said the east is still wide open and if TN can get things figured out that it wouldn't take long to win in the east. I honestly always hated the guy but I wouldn't mind Fulmer throwing the bank at him if we choose to move on from pruitt. I just want want to see us with a winning record again. 😭

I think Urban is just trying to improve his negotiating status with USC at the end of the season. Due to his neurologic problems he is probably not remembering that we hire cheap!

The program won't survive a 5 year rebuild.

What does this mean? I see it said all the time. Are y’all saying that UT will shut the doors on the football program or are you saying we won’t give Pruitt 5 years? There is no way UT shuts the football program down.
