So true. They have a roster full of the likes of Hurd, Maybin, Barnett. We have about 5-10 at a mature level.

This is another big year to take a step forward with recruiting. We should not be content with back to back top 5 classes. I don't care how limited the numbers are this needs to be an elite class

Depth is a key issue. Even though things are looking up, there's still a long way to go. The recruiting battle is a constant challenge. Looks like our team is taking a hit right now in the rankings. It's all about perception . . . to continue building, they have to win out the rest of the season.

Yeah . . . I sincerely hope the staff closes the 2016 recruiting season with a nationally ranked top-5 class (at least a top-10). We need to be in the top two in the East and at least in the top five in the SEC.

The program is at a tipping point.

UT has recruit nationally to get enough talent as high school FB in Tennessee does not provide enough big time players. In order to get kids from all over they country to come to UT, we have to win. Getting beat on national TV for 10 consecutive years by Bama and UF and consistently losing the OOC game to big name programs kills us . At some point, kids will say UT had tradition but why go to a program I have no emotional or geographical attachment for to get beaten on national TV?

The program is snake bit- how many close games have we won in the past 10 years? Very few.

Kiffin and Dooley may have killed the program.

Recruits care about the facilities, the level of competition, how soon they can play, is it a power conference, how many times will I be on TV, is the school recognized for getting players in the NFL.

Maybe. But to be fair this game is always close and today we had their number. We just couldn't make field goals. If we had even made two we win.

Then how did we get good classes the last couple of times? Butch is selling UT and recruits are buying! Have a little more patience while we get back to being a force in the SEC.

I'd say that's a fair point. Thanks Dooley and Hamilton!

We will be lucky to hit top 10 because we can not get 30+ recruits this year. I would also not put much stock in that since signing day is not till February... a lot of things can happen between now and then.

Butch's high recruiting rankings have been due to quantity not quality. Look at the average star ranking per player for the top 10 teams the last 2 years, we're close to or at the bottom
