Also. listen, I never said Briles was the top choice. I said he would take the job if we struck out on everyone else. You obviously still do your due diligence.

At the very least we could hire Art Briles. He is desperate to get back into coaching and he is a proven winner. However, many on you will whine and complain about title 9 and whatever. Cool, but Louisville hired Petrino and you think they are still complaining?

I'd rather keep Butch and never win more than 6 games a season than hire that POS Briles.

Also, if you think Briles situation is "whining about title 9" you truly have no idea what you're talking about.

I want Tennessee to make a change as much as anybody. However, we have to go ahead and limit our search to people who haven't been fired from other schools due to ethical misconduct. We'll just have to hire one of the many coaches who don't embarrass the university in non-football related ways.

I love how the majority of the threads have our fanbase calling for Butch's head, and then this thread is a guy mad that there aren't enough of us calling for his head...

I wonder how much money that small % gives to the athletic program? My guess is their contributions amount to getting on free message boards and *****in.

Sure he was a proven winner. When Majors went into the hospital and CPF took over; UT looked like a different team on the field. CPF went 3-0 while serving as interim head coach and Majors went 2-3 upon his return. That's why Major's was forced to resign.

What Petrino and briles did are on completely different levels I don't see how you can compare the two at all. Briles won't ever have another head coaching job at this level again.

That we hired Jones when we could have hired Petrino shows that we settled for a lesser coach. At least Hart will be gone, maybe we will spend some money on a proven coach.

You'd have to be a piece of crap to hire a guy like Briles. If he was the coach here at Tennessee, I couldn't respect the program anymore.

I'll tell you what infuriates me...

When some dumb@$$ fan wants to fire a guy who is probably going to be 10-3 at the end of this year, following a 9-4 season. Hey chief, 3 years ago we were 5-7 and couldn't go bowling. The guy before him, yea, a whole lotta 5-7. If Butch sucks next year and we're 6-6/7-5 then yea, let's move on. But goodness don't pull a Hurd and quit halfway through.
