I'm still in old school mode. My PS2 is still working fine. I'm looking at the PS3 Uncharted bundle with 250GB that right now is priced at $249.99. With Sony's library of games, I'm sure I could play till I die happy. I heard the the Xbox still has the ring of death issue....is that still a common thing? I thought they had fixed those problems. I don't won't to buy the Xbox if that is still a problem. With the release of the New Consoles for next year, would it be a good idea to buy the PS3 now or just wait till PS4 comes out with all the new bugs that will be a problem to fix? Anyone that has a good knowledge of this could really help a dude out...Thanks.

The Xbox 360 red ring of deaths have dropped drastically. It's a great system although I prefer PS3 over it in the end.

If I buy a new console it would be more than likely a PS3. Has Sony fixed that little hacker problem they had issues with a couple of years ago? The way technology is now a days it's hard to trust anything with ID's being stolen & all. Has anyone here on this board had any problems with that type of issue? I'm just being cautious I suppose?

Yep, both systems since their respective overhauls are drastically more stable.

Yes, it was really more about proving a point to Sony. There's still some tension between hacker circles and Sony but that has been resolved.

It wont happen again. As Milo said it's a proving point for Sony now. Xbox Live has better online features such as party chat and all but I feel the connection like gameplay connection is the same as long as you have high speed internet. I have comcast and have both systems and both perform great connection quality wise.

Some people are big on it, I really don't care one way or the other about party chat for online. Other than ESPN3 (which I stream from my computer to my TV anyways), not much to me differentiating XBL from PSN.

I saw the other day that an Xbox console 4gb was selling down to $149.99 at Wal-Mart but that was like an early bird special or regular price now just to move stock out. Thanks to all you guys for the help on these questions I have about the 2 consoles. What are the thoughts on the New PS4 or Xbox 720 that will be coming out next year? How can they improve this stuff when it's really kicking some bad ass already? I will hang up & listen.

I don't know too much so I could be completely wrong on this. PS4 nothing much is out, but I hear for the new Xbox instead of discs there will be cartridges. That's what I heard last. If things have changed someone correct me. That's all i've heard though.

Wow, going back to the old days of cartridges, huh? Sorry, but I don't understand that move. I remember the first NES console where they used those cartridges, is that the same as what you are saying?

I think Xbox definitely trumps PS3.. Online play is leaps and bounds better, new systems are very reliable, and I think it has a better variety of games. Just my opinion though.

How old are you? That's what people said about Super Nintendo.

Yeah, I guess I'm that old. Time slips up on a person B4 you know it. This new technology is way cool but old dogs like me take time to get accustomed to the situation; when you're too busy making a living & providing for the family. BTW, my Super Nintendo is up in the closet & hasn't seen day light in a while..ha ha. The kids grow up & leave home & forget that it's there.

Back in the day there was no more FUN to be had than playing Super Mario 1-3 up into the wee hours of the morning when everybody in the house had gone to bed. I played that game till my thumbs were numb & very sore. Some games were so hard to beat that I went & bought a "game genie" where you could put a # set of keys in to help you beat games....after a while you got tired of dying & losing & you could "cheat" the games with these different types of setups. And then along came the PS...everything changed after that console came out for the greater good. :loco:
