Throughout Europeans’ time on this continent, there have been private cemeteries - on church-owned properties, family plots on family land, etc. As the decades pass, some of these have been abandoned. Every now and then, a county or city government will take over an abandoned cemetery. One of these has been in the local news, recently. People have come forward, claiming that their forebears are buried in the cemetery, and complaining that the government hasn’t done enough to rehabilitate the property. For generations, their family members have been buried there, and their family has done nothing to maintain the graves, but now they’re b****ing about the government’s lack of urgency in correcting decades of neglect? Shameless. Pitiful.

We own a cemetery.
