Ok.. since my last update I have taken a load of about 3200 board feet to Florida. It was 2x6, 2x8, and beams. It brought $5800. I have at least 2 more loads that size out of this barn.
So far I have removed all the roof system, the beams and supports from upstairs, the upstairs floor (which sucked lol), all the 2x8 from the flooring system, and the 1x material from the sides.
Today I took down, denailed, and loaded all the 12 foot 6x8 beams from downstairs. This is the part where I wish I had help. Oak weighs 4 to 5 lbs a board foot. These beams have around 60 board feet in them. So at 4 pounds a board foot that's 240 pounds roughly. These are soaked and frozen from last week's rain so I'm betting it's more than that. Had to pick them up, put them on my shoulder and carry them about 75 feet to the trailer. It sucks but I don't have a choice. Got all 8 loaded today.
There are 18, 6x8 smaller beams that are 5 1/2 feet long. I got half of them pulled and denailed today and I'll finish the rest tomorrow. There are 4, 6x8 beams that are 8 feet long. I'll get them loaded tomorrow as well.
I have maybe 10, 2x8 left to denail and trim, and then there are about 100 2x6x12' left. What stinks about these are they notched them right in the middle to rest the 2x8 floor joists in. So that means I have to remove this notch for my buyers. Just takes more time. I'll lose about 4 inches out of each one and have twice as many boards to handle.
And that's where I'm at.
I have the 2x6 wall joists left, the 2x4 shed frames on the sides of the barn, and the material between the stalls. It's pretty much whipped.
I do have a lot of 1x material to denail, maybe 800 board feet. I wish I could find 1 person to denail and let me do other things. I spend as much time denailing and trimming as I do deconstructing.
