The real day 1 started with removing the tin and getting the lathing and 2x6 roof rafters out. This tin was a pain in the rear to remove. The lathing is oak and they used regular nails to nail it down with. Makes them hard to get out.
Got both top rows of tin pulled, the lathing removed and the first row of 2x6 removed, which was basically both sides of the peak. Much easier to do it this way than on a ladder from below.
