When I was a senior in high school, we were playing the first game in program history against a major national power. Outwardly, we were ready to go....inwardly, we had doubt.
The game starts and we go right down and score. They came back down and scored in maybe three plays; basically, something demoralizing. Suddenly that doubt really started to build. We didn't score on the next drive, and like lightning they came down and scored. By the time we got it together, we were down by two touchdowns. We got ourselves back into it but lost by a touchdown. For five minutes, we were in awe of them. In those five minutes, we went from up seven to down twenty-one.
That can't happen tomorrow.
I'm much less worried about that with this staff. Fulmer never had the guys ready out of the gate for the gators, except for 2001 and 2004. He just didn't have the energy or take no prisoners persona to project that on his players.
Kiffin, coach O, Monte... those guys aren't intimidated, I have faith that our guys will be ready to thrown down from the opening kickoff.
