There was an exchange between Rob Lewis and Coach Pruitt after the Bama game that is interesting...

I agree with all this. Pruitt definitely has to prove himself as HC. However I like his chances to succeed because he has extremely experienced HOF UT legendary coach as his AD, and also he can rely on Chaney who himself has a ton of experience (and Tee has a lot to offer there as well) to cover the offense. Isn't Chaney actually 1-0 as our HC? I though he was the HC for the final game after Dooley was fired and won that game.

Yes Cheney is 1-0 as a head coach.

No I’m pretty sure it’s true. I remember reading practice reports of him missing throws like crazy. How else do you explain the fact that it took Worley going down and Peterman getting benched before we put Dobbs on the field in 2014, only to discover he was by far our best option?
They were also trying to do what they can to redshirt Dobbs both years he had to come in. I think by his parents wishes if I remember correctly.

Whats really eerie is Jeremy is probably the only one here who’s ever coached major college football. Now I’m really confused and don’t know who to trust!😂😂 ...no just kidding I know who I trust!

A fallacy of an argument as the same could be said about every coach who has ever been fired from any D1 school..doesnt make em geniuses...just a good judge of who to choose as an agent..

LOL....and you would be right and they STILL would be the only ones who coached D1 football. So....I agree with you 😂😂

Ok

So you blindly trust every person who has coached at the D1 level to know what theyre doing? Even when all the evidence points to the contrary?

Some fans are referred to as sheep for a valid reason

LOL....I think you kinda missed the point. But to your point, anyone who coached on the D1 level - with RARE exceptions - YES - knows much more about the game of football than 99% of us posting here. Of course that's what these silly boards are for though to post our opinions. I come from a family of long time SEC players and coaches (one is in the HOF as a coordinator) but that doesn't give me any credible knowledge of the game itself. I have had to joy of watching a lot games with these guys over the years and the game is so much different that we, the average fans think. So actually I think we are in agreement.

I think this sheds some light on why many Tennessee fans are frustrated with Pruitt. Many of us (including myself) want to see younger guys play more because we want to accelerate this rebuild. Rob has expressed on VQ's podcast that he thinks the younger guys should play more and asked Pruitt about it after the game. While I agree that they should be playing more, I thought Pruitt's answer made a lot of sense...

Rob: "Jeremy, as a coach is there ever a time where you may have a freshman or a sophomore who you know is more talented than the upperclassman who is playing, but he's not quite as ready, and you throw him out there to speed up his development, or is it all about the practice thing?"

Pruitt: "Well I don't believe in that. You have a purpose when you practice. I don't think that's the right way to build a program because the players know who's earned the right opportunity to play on Saturdays. They know that. There's no secrets in this game. They can see it. We watch film every day. They know who plays hard. They know who makes mistakes. And if you start (playing guys) just because he's bigger or stronger or faster or whatever and he's not done the right stuff through the week then I think you're sending the wrong message to the people within your program..."

The question was asked at around 14:27 if interested

So my take away is that maybe the coaching staff isn't showing them the right way or maybe the senior leadership on the team is correcting the younger guys because essentially they are in competition with them. Young guys don't go out every practice and say "Hey I am gonna F* this up so I don't play on Saturdays." If anything, it is the coaching and leadership. Young guys have to be shown what right looks like so they can, in JP words, practice right and earn playing time.

I think his answer is spot on. And it addresses those who constantly keep wanting a change at qb who forget the possibility that the reason Pruitt keeps putting JG out there is because the back ups just haven't shown that much progress in practice( I/e, they haven't earned it) Playing the person who was better in practice works for me.

Because you wannabes utilizing that tired cliche have never had material. Go ahead and call it a FACT...you know you want to. 😴

Works for you but it’s not working for Pruitt.

You seriously got triggered by fans on a fan message board sharing their opinions about the team they are a fan of?

Might want to limit your Interwebs activity to the online catalog search engine for your local library. That's about the only safe space out there.

I'm not sure what your definition of triggered is, but something this insignificant doesn't trigger me hoss. It's funny that many of these with "opinions" apparently know very little about the game of football, so maybe they, and you, should do your own online search and learn a thing or two before getting on a message board and acting like you know more than the nearly hundred years of experience on our coaching staff.
