As an old retired football coach myself, it's very difficult to not see everyone pulling on the rope in the same direction. It appears to me that we not only don't have everyone on the rope pulling for us, some are sawing on it and spitting on it in the process. I'm just an old diehard ut fan, I guess.
There are reasons to everything..
Like us resorting to playing 3 underclassman on the o line that's clearly killing any offense we try.
But that's totally Butch's fault.......
well you said 3 on the o-line. I'm so sorry sunshine I could have sworn we had a TE coach and a O-line coach. (Different builds.different responsibility)So tight ends don't block on the line on a regular basis?
And those are true freaking freshmen I'm talking about..
Why am I arguing this? Have u watched a UT game this year? Our inexperience on the o line is the most obvious weakness u could possibly see ever.
Of course there are more negative comments. What positivity did you get from the game on Saturday? Not taking anything away from the defense, they were great, but what positives did you get from that game with us losing?[/QUOTE
That game is the small minute corner of the big picture. Our defense is getting nastier as the year goes on. Our offensive weapons are coming back soon, finally. We are gonna have an extra ol for depth. Looking forward to see how that works out. We just got a verbal from the Hillsboro speedster last night that might also bring his highly touted dl teammate. It is rumored we get one of the best cb in the nation committing in the morning, which would move us to third nationally in recruiting. The class with maybe one more addition of a dl could be the best defensive class we have ever had. We have help coming at qb with a dual threat and a great pro style passer. We are bringing back some neglected traditions that Kiffin and Dooley lost as well as adding a few more possibly. Alumni players are coming around and are totally on board with what Butch is doing. I have more hope than I've had in six years. We have a lot of positives. I'm not crapping on all that over a dropped pass or an opponent made fg at the end of a game. 2-3 was what most people, that know a lot more about football that posters on here, predicted. We still have our sights on a bowl game. 6-6 is all we need and it can be achieved.
Blair was one of the top, not the top...
The guys not playing are obviously not ready either.. Which is scary.
It's scary to think that if Mahoney is the problem Butch may be too loyal to let him go.
I hope Butch is ready to do such in order to compete in the SEC.
Though I hope Mahoney is good, because he's been with Butch since CMU, so he knows the blocking schemes best.
Everything you said is proof that Coach Butch is the coach Tennessee needs and he will soon have the Vols back to the place we all want them to be. That being said I don't understand why you're so concerned about the so called pseudo fans. Wouldn't it be easier to state the case you just made, go with the just wait and see approach and then smile when everything comes to fruition?Of course there are more negative comments.
