The Zone Runs Thread - 2013

Ran the Assault on Sylvania Mountain 5k last night at a 9'48" pace. I could've done better, but I don't want to push it. I'll do faster before next week.

In the last quarter mile, there is a 400 - 500 ft elevation change. You have one hill, and then after you climb over the serpent's broken back, you get about 0.05 mile breather before you have to attack the head.

I sprinted up it last night, so I feel like I could've bettered my pace if I had sustained my starting pace a little longer. I was afraid I'd run out of juice. I normally take a different route so I skip the first hill on the way back, but I wanted to see what I could do.

After running this route for the past couple months, I don't think hills have any effect on me at all anymore.

My participation for the Marine Mud Run may be in jeopardy. If I missed it, would that reflect poorly on you at work in any way, Gonz?

I am still registered for the Fireball.

Just ran my first 3 mile run last night. After slowly building up distance the past few weeks, I now know that I won't die during the race.

8 miles @ 10'18"

Check out these bomb splits, yo!

Didn't really hit my stride until the fifth mile. The weird part is the trail was mostly downhill on the way out, and mostly uphill on the way back...

I was pacing myself, and then decided to pick it up a little bit.

Also, either the Nike GPS app is off a little, or this trail was marked improperly. I lost a tenth of a mile on the way out and another on the way back.

So as the trail was marked, I actually ran more like 8.25

The greenway that starts at Island Home Park. Can't remember what it's called.

I think it's because there are a few switchbacks that the GPS doesn't track too accurately.
