The Zone Runs Thread - 2013

I am looking for playlist ideas for my runs. I get distracted easily, so I need to be listening to music to keep going.

What suggestions do Volga and you guys have for me?

I listen to rap. Pretty sure no one here wants my music suggestions. Lol

Controlled rhythm. Stays pretty steady. I have a tendency to try and run faster during a fast tempo song and this keeps that from occuring.

The faster your turnover the better though, usually. I tend to run too slow if the rhythm is too slow. If I ran to the beat of that first song you posted, I would have to run in double-time. 2 steps per beat.

I have learned smaller, faster strides are better, usually. I am still learning the trade, though. Peach would have better advice.

I would say that music can have an influence on the run but usually I don't sync my run to the pace of the music. It is more about picking songs that keep me going/motivated than speed. I have found that if I let myself run faster because of a song then I get burned out. So I try not to let the music dictate my run rather let it dictate my motivation/attitude. If that makes sense...

Some people can't help it lol. I am one of those people. I try to run at my own pace, but if I'm listening to music, I run to the beat.

There's nothing wrong with it you just have to pick music that fits the pace. I'm not patient enough to create one. I just flip through the music until a song comes on that gets me going and I just keep at whatever pace I'm doing.

Linkin Park might be good running music as well, if they're your thing. Old Linkin Park was my thing.

Right now Less Than Jake, Cake, Reel Big Fish, Macklemore, Pepper and Jay-Z are the primary artists on my playlist.

Oh, and Blues Travelers.

this for me

You guys need more single friends who want to do things like running, hiking, etc. Also, an acceptable level of crazy. TIA.

My grandpa knows a lot of recently widowed ladies at his retirement community. I'll put in a good word for you, Voxx. Some of them are very wealthy.

I have a running playlist that has the BPM's around 165-175. I find this pace comfortable to run by. If you like I can bring my iPod to work and type out the playlist for you. I am still looking for a good/free app that will analyze my all my songs and assign a BPM so it will be easier than the "tapping the shift key for BPM's website". That is tedious.
