Yea, I’m not too excited about this matchup. For one, I think Gunther is beyond being a punching bag for the oldies, save that for Jey. But in all reality, is the whole “let’s have the legends return and do one last match” really worth potential injury to the legend and/or the current superstar? Just seems gimmicky.Goldberg looking oldberg
Well... It's WWE. You have to think in cartoon or comic book terms when you watch WWE. WWE has never been grounded in reality. They could bring Flair back and expect you to believe he could beat Cena lol.Yea, I’m not too excited about this matchup. Meanwhile you’ll have Omega v Okada on the same day, albeit a PPV vs free.Yea, I’m not too excited about this matchup. Do you think that could be the beginning of getting him there? He's pretty clearly going to be one of their main guys for the next decade or so...why not let him annihilate Goldberg?I don't agree. Breakker is not at that level yet.
I think you are underappreciating what Goldberg was to the business. He's a legend. A Hall of Famer. Breakker has never had a title run, except NXT. Breakker is still kind of green. I don't think of him as a main event guy at all on his own. He is in a group that will elevate him a bit, but he needs that elevation. Casual fans have no idea who Bron Breakker is. He is the future for sure. He will have his time against some legend down the road I'm sure, to put him over as a main guy. But he's not ready.Do you think that could be the beginning of getting him there? 1. From what I recall, Goldberg and Little Steiner are pretty close, so maybe that giant ego of Bill's won't get in the way.
2. Are we maybe overappreciating who and what Goldberg was? I mean, he was only on top for a few years and when they did finally beat him, they kind of made a joke of him. IDK...maybe thats just me.
Maybe Bron isn't the right guy. But I don't think Gunther is either. The retiring guy is supposed to take the pin to help get a younger guy over. Gunther doesn't need the rub.I think you are underappreciating what Goldberg was to the business. He's a legend. A Hall of Famer. Breakker has never had a title run, except NXT. I will agree with that too. In a sense. I feel like Gunther's character was degraded a bit when he lost the title to Uso. I never felt like he should have dropped the title to Jey, but they needed to make another huge baby-face for when Cody and Seth take their long absences lol. I felt like it should have been Sami, not Jey. But that's just me. I was happy that Uso won, but honestly, his title run was one of the weaker runs I've seen in a while. I guess Jey is just going to be the new perpetual overachiever.Maybe Bron isn't the right guy. But I don't think Gunther is either.
