The WRASSLIN’ Thread

Double or Nothing was solid. Might have been one of the weaker AEW PPVs, but it was still better than 90% of the WWE PPV's I've watched over the last year. I about pee'd my pants when Statlander came out!! And I don't know why, but I was hoping for Christian to win the TNT title. The Battle Royale, the trios match and the Anarchy in the Arena were the other high points for me. The 4 pillars match was good, but man, it seemed too formulaic at times. With everybody having to "get in" their spots. Good ending though.

I feel like Kota Ibushi is the only logical answer for the Elite.

I don't agree with that at all. WWE weekly program hasn't been great, aside from the Bloodline stuff, but their PPV's have mostly been really good, imo.

That's cool. It's just my opinion on my preferences. I have enjoyed a lot of the WWE ppv's. The only one in the last year that I would put above most of the AEW ppv's is WM. There is very rarely anything on WWE ppv's that makes me say Wow. But I can usually get several Wows from a AEW ppv. But not DoN. It was kind of bland and reminded me of a WWE ppv.

WWE ppvs have a high production value. But they often have a very same same feel to them. AEW books more ambitious matches but gets in it's own way a lot. I generally prefer the latter. But I never seem to stop watching either for long.

I think it was planned. It sure looked like it was on purpose to me.
To what end? I can't imagine wanting to make Jeff look worse right now. I'll have to try and watch it again.

Edit: It looks like he just missed his footing to me. Then again Gunn wasn't in the normal position to take a "whisper in the wind". Some are saying he hurt his knee. He was limping just before trying to climb the ropes.

He could have been selling the injury.

Corbin needed it. I think anyone on the main roster thats being underused needs to go to NXT to rejuvenate them with better booking . I was really surprised that they were using him. It will make for a nice little feud with Carmelo Hayes.

I can't believe it's been 24 years since Owen passed away. The whole thing could have been prevented. I read that he was considering retiring not long after that.

It was about 50 wins too late to end the streak, it was way past time.

Not arguing that really. But just have Statlander beat her normally, not after she just had a competitive match. Seems like weak “moment” booking than good thought out booking.

Seemed like a MITB cash in not to make Jade look weak after the long streak.

Also, as bland as I thought DoN was, this Dynamite has been fire. I don't know if its partly because of the crowd or what, but this crowd is much hotter than the ppv crowd

I haven't heard/seen heat like Callis and Takeshita have in a loooong time. I think they were all taken by surprise by it. The last time I think I saw heat like that was, ironically enough, when Callis was Cyrus in ECW. People were literally trying to attack him at ECW shows. Really good stuff.

Rampage looks like it is going to be an amazing show too.

Well Callis has a very punchable face. If we don't hate his guts, his talents are being wasted. I can't wait to see heel Takeshita. The golden boy corrupted by Don should generate some heat. I'd love to see him vs Okada.
