The Walking Dead

That's not how Shane died in the comics. He didn't make it out of ATL though. Kirkman has said he rushed the Shane story in the comic because he didn't know if the book was going to survive long enough to flesh it out (puns unintended).

Rick was A LOT more trusting in the comics. He took in almost every stranger they encountered including the 4 prisoners that survived. In several instances it came back to bite him (again no pun intended).

Didn't Carl shoot him when he was going bat**** insane over the attack? or am I just mis remembering.

I thought you were implying Shane died during the attack. That's pretty close. He and Rick went hunting after the attack on the camp. They started arguing because Rick wanted to hit the road and find somewhere more secure. Shane wanted to stay and wait to be rescued. Then Shane went off about Lori and pulled a gun on Rick. That's when Carl shot him.

Personally, I think the show handled the Shane storyline much better.

I agree with how the show handled Shane, though I like how they found out Shane was a zombie better in the comics.

The episodes that are away from the main group, such as last weeks "Clear" and last season's "18 Miles Out" are the best episodes. I say that because they allow the characters to show their innermost thoughts in their actions. You can see how the characters are changing and how the show is developing. Those episodes are usually the best written and most discussed episodes. You need episodes like this a couple times each season.

any episode that doesn't deal with Andrea, her dumb looks and even dumber decision making, are a close second

Some may not know that the writer for season 2 and most of season 3, Glenn Mazzara is leaving the show.

The good news is the writer of last weeks episode, "Clear", Scott Gimple, will take the reigns as the shows writer. His style brings a near-perfect balance of drama and action

Here are the episodes that Gimple has written for TWD

* Clear
* Pretty Much Dead Already
* 18 Miles Out
* Save The Last One

As you can see, Gimple has written 4 of the best 7 or 8 episodes that they have ever put out.

it is safe to say that the show is in good hands.

She plays a large role in the graphic novel so I doubt she's going anywhere. But who knows, maybe they don't go that way with the hunter storyline

She is a completely different character in the show. Might as well kill her off since no one likes her.

Thanks for the info. One issue is they have had trouble finding balance between drama and action. Like the episodes are all one or the other.

Wonder if tonight's episode is the one Rick loses his hand? The preview showed him meeting with the Governor and it looks like the Governor will take him hostage.

I doubt Rick loses his hand. Robert Kirkman stated that he always regretted doing it in the comics.

Just like Dale's comic fate looks like it was given to Herschel, I think Merle missing hand is from Rick

I've been a fan of this season. It's been interesting throughout and has had alot more going on than either of the previous two.

That said....tonight was one of the biggest "filler" episodes they've had in quite some time.

The anticipation is now building. This was a set up episode for the rest of the season.

While it was slow to some, it did a few things.

1) Andrea found out where she stands in the scheme of things.
2) Milton found out that the other people on the other side are decent people.
3) Rick knows not to trust TG.
4) Daryl and Martinez have more in common that they knew.
5) Glenn and Maggie have patched things up and are no longer at one another's throat.

Rick knows that TG is going to eventually try to kill everyone because he wants the prison. That is why I am surprised that he would even consider handing over Michonne. Rick prepared them for the worst news...that they were going to war.

Milton sees that TG is not an honest or sincere man. What will he do when the **** hits the fan? Who will he side with?

What is Andrea's role if war breaks out? She knows what TG is and let Herschel know that she wants to come back with the group. If war breaks out, will she fight for Rick's group from the inside against TG?

Milton seems pissed off. Could he and Andrea band together and provide resistance from inside Woodbury?

Everything was set up by tonight's episode.

.......the fuse is now lit.

I liked this episode. The dialogue between Rick n the gov was pretty intense. You could see the lies coming from the gov and Rick seeing right thru it. Showed there is still a little humanity left in people, but its fading. Nice set up for a three episode show down. I expect deaths in the last two episodes. Then, on to the tombs....and hopefully the hunters

Finding out hard to believe that some didn't like tonight's episode. I thought it was great and far from a filler episode. The show has its fair share of exploding zombie heads and gun fights but that's not what its all about (at least I don't think so).

Edit...

Yeah I just looked up filler episode to make sure I want off track.
Filler episodes are entries in a generally continuous serial that are unrelated to the main plot, don't significantly alter the relations between the characters, and generally serve only to take up space.

Hard to see how tonight's episode comes close to meeting that criteria.

FTR I'm also predicting that Carl will die this season. If for no other reason then the actor's age. So far a year has gone by but the kid that plays Carl has (noticeably) aged 3 years. I don't see how they can keep that up. The only way I see it really working is if they jump forward a year or so before the start of next season.
