The Walking Dead

I have a feeling the two story lines are going to have a violent intersection.
The Guvnah was wanting info on the farm.

I forgot about that. Could those guys Rick was shooting at in the bar have been the Governor's men?

I think the Guvnah fancies himself as the "leader" of what's left of the human race and perhaps he thinks he can find a cure for the disease. He took out those military guys not only for their weapons but also to protect his throne.

since I haven't read the comics:

were the two walkers Michonne's parents?

The question was asked if walkers were purely instinct driven or is some small part of the person they were still exists. If that is the case, and those two were once her parents, were they getting agitated because they sensed Merle and were thus trying to protect Michonne?

Her boyfriend and his "idiot best friend".

So far the Governor is quite different from his comics interpretation. He did have the room of zombie heads in fish bowls. Also had his zombie daughter chained up in his apartment and would feed her. In the comics he captures Rick, Glenn, and Michonne. Keeps the latter tied up and beats and rapes the s**t out of her. She gets payback though. He was quite the disturbing character. I doubt they go that route on the show. Kirkman said they are playing up the politician angle.

Didn't he chop off rick's hand and kill Lori too?

Well I didn't want to give that away just in case it still ends up happening on the show. Technically HE doesn't kill Lori but it happens when his people attack the prison.

There are some major differences between the comic and where the show is at this point. For one, the main group was still much bigger. Herschel has more kids than in the show. Otis, Dale, and Sophia are still alive as well as another set of twin kids. In fact Dale is the second character that gets his leg chopped off. The first one died due to blood loss but Dale survives the procedure. He and Andrea are also an item. T-Dog is a different chacter who was a NFL player that ended early after injury. His role was a lot bigger as he and Rick become good friends. Michonne happens upon the prison and joins the group before ever discovering Woodbury.

Then of course there is no Daryl or Merle.

Having said that, I like the show better. The book is good and gets better as it goes along but the early stories feel rushed because they weren't sure if it was going to last or not. Shane's story line is particularly weak in the comics and the time spent on Herschel's farm is only a couple issues before he kicks them out (but eventually joins them at the prison).

Robert Kirkman said in an interview that T Dog wasn't a replacement for Tyrese and to expect to see Tyrese show up at some point. Most of what I've read is that may be second half of this season or season 4.

That's good to know. T-Dog is probably the weakest character on the show.

The show is good because they are building a story instead of just sitting around killing zombies all show long.

Actually "Rise of the Governor" clarifies that a bit.

I doubt it, just the names they called the zombies seems like they are separate groups. Ie. Ricks group calls them walkers, the guys at the bar called them lame brains or something like that, and the Governor calls them biters. Maybe I'm looking too deep into this.

Glen was calling them "geeks" in the second episode.

I've never understood why they don't call them zombies. That goes for zombie movies too. Do the writers think it will sound silly or something?
