Hopefully Rick returns ro being a bad ass this episode. He has been wollowing in self pity ever since Lorie died.

It's definitely plausible and why would that be bad writing? Is any writing where Morgan comes back "good writing" for you or is it just bad period?

He did strangle the dude in the bathroom so it's not like he's a helpless, Amish farmer these days.
Don't see him ever losing a hand. It really complicates filming too much. They did it with Hershel's leg and got tired of it so that's when Daryl found him a prosthetic on a supply run.

If I recall Kirkman has said (several times?) if he could go back and change anything from the comic it would be Rick keeping his hand!
