Looks like AMC is going to try and build off of (or milk) established, successful shows with spinoffs. They cancelled The Killing (again) and Low Winter Sun's ratings are horrible, so they spinoff Breaking Bad and now TWD.

Makes me wonder if they'll spinoff Mad Men too.
Please god no no and no.

Frasier was literally the only good spin off ever. I'm fine with webisodes and short movies tangential to the shows, but spin offs virtually always suck and cheapen the entire product.

AMC has a chance to rival HBO here but if they start cashing in with this garbage rather than allowing new content to flourish, they will be toast in a matter of years.

Even though I think it could be argued that HBO is down right now too, I think AMC missed that opportunity a few years ago. Except for TWD, just about everything since Mad Men and Breaking Bad has failed pretty miserably and their two bell cows are going away.

I generally agree; spinoffs end up a bad idea about 95% of the time. I still shudder when I think of "Joey". The problem with spinoffs usually is they are just an artificial way to extend a show, and it's usually a show that has already gone on too long. I think "Cheers" and "Frasier" are the only examples of shows I can think of that that pulled off being on really long (11 years) and has a successful spinoff that also pulled off being on a long time (even if they screwed up some continuity).

AMC didn't announce a spinoff but they are splitting MM into 2 small 7 episode seasons, which is lame.

I'm sure there are plenty of scripts floating around out there similar to Game of Thrones. I'd like to see AMC take a serious shot at the fantasy drama category.

To clarify, when I say scripts similar to GoT, I mean in content not execution.

George R. R. Martin is a master of character development and story telling. Would be tough to find something as powerful as his work

Technically I'd have to include The Simpsons as a spinoff of The Tracy Ullman Show. Other than that I'm not sure what's left...Angel off of Buffy?

Its a shame more people isn't watching AMC's Hell On Wheels

This. For entertainment value, I think it's the 3rd best show on AMC, behind BB and TWD.

I love the interaction between Anson Mount and Common; two friends that kinda hate each other, but also back each other up.

Seems like there was a spin off thread a year or so ago. I would search for it but I'm lazy.

A lot of folks may not know that Anson Mount is a Tennessee boy from White Bluff in Dickson Co.
