I don't know what else to say. When it comes to cutting fat anywhere on the body, metabolism stimulation is the name of the game. Eating large quantities of food at once will put a halt to that pretty quick.

If your schedule is such that you can't even get literally 30 seconds to grab half of a protein bar or a couple handfuls of peanuts from your purse during the day, there's probably nothing you can do.

Just an aside, I use this site as a calorie tracker:

FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal

It's bitchin'! And free. I wouldn't use it to track burning of calories, though, as there's really no way to accurately track that without being constantly monitored. But as far as food consumption goes, it's fantastic.

I mix in running, biking and weight training and just try to not be lazy one day and quit it all. I have to switch it up quite a bit because I get so bored with working out. I'm just not naturally one of those people. It's a constant struggle.

protien bars are absolutely terrible for you. the vast majority of them are loaded with sugar and/or high fructose corn syrup!

i think large quantities of food is overstating it. my metabolism is rocking. plus i only eat around 1500-1800 calories per day. i just need to get the proper excercise regimen.

It was an example. Point being eating small quantities of food is going to be key.

Some people just have good metabolism due to genetics. If you think your metabolism is fine, then good. Try doing any decent core workout twice a day like I mentioned, give it a month and see how it works. I personally do about 100-120 crunches twice a day. First straight forward where I touch my knees to my chest, then oblique crunches, then leg lifts, followed by 20-30 push ups (probably the most underrated core workout there is). If it doesn't, then time to go back to the drawing board with the diet.

Also, posture helps a TON. If you're sitting all day, make sure you're sitting straight up, not slouched over or leaning back on your chair.

ironically, the woman in your avatar, save for the ginormous boobs, is exactly what you describe above. slender and very toned. look at her abs. she's got a six pack!
And she has hips like a wisconsin cheeleader too in the full pic, much is about genetics. The other is personal taste in what is and what isn't attractive.

Ksush, keep up the workout, that is great. I just run about 4 miles 4-5 days a week. I love running outside, hate the treadmill, it gets brutally cold in Pittsburgh, so I have to resort to a treadmill in winters. I have slacked a little lately. I am considering joining a gym up the road, since I work in a hospital, they will waive the sign up fee. They open as early as 0500 which I love. I would like to get on some sort of workout regimen, it's hard to get motivated at times.

^ Good choice. Running is great for staying healthy and getting cardio systems working well, but if changing your physique is your focus, resistance training is the way to go. When you run, your workout is done as soon as you stop. Resistance training breaks down muscles, and rebuilding them takes up energy, so your workout continues even after you are done.

so guys, do you know what i'm talking about when i'm saying skinny but with belly button fat? that's literally the only place i'm fat. does this require an illustration for your advice? i can probably find something similar to my situation in google images.
you need longer cardio to really burn off that last bit of fat. The body really needs 40+ minutes of cardio before it gets into a fat burning cycle.

LOL yeah exercise is important, but ask anybody who knows. Personal trainers, nutritionists, etc. Diet is the biggest contributing factor. I have been getting sculpted over the last month on diet alone.

That's what the Weight Watchers tell all the 300lbs women at my previous employer. The ones who have been in the program for over a year and get nowhere. I'll never forget all these fat ladies blathering on about their "points" with no thoughts of stepping into the gym the company had. My point isn't that exercise is the largest contributing factor, its that, for me, if I don't exercise, I'm not watching my diet, and I suspect the same for many others. Its why diets alone don't work.

I get what you are saying and I think I agree. I got married two months ago and before my wedding I was lifting like crazy and I ate pretty well.

Since the wedding I've been slacking on lifting and my diet has not been that great. After work today I'm starting back, I haven't gained weight but I'm starting to feel lazy so it's time to get back to it.

More I workout, better I eat... When I don't workout my diet suffers.

Eh. Has been for me. I've looked around, studied and been eating certain foods in a way that promotes my metabolism, and I've been cutting weight for a while now.

diet is important, but i think there comes a certain dead end where you've lost all you're going to lose and then excercise overtakes as the more important factor in achieving tone. i think the excercise factor is particularly relevant for people who are not overweight, but are just looking to get more fit. you still have to avoid junk food, but carrots alone won't give you a six pack.

Diet and exercise are equally important to me.

Instead of running today I hiked House Mountain in Knox County. Damn it was hot today and the air was exceptually bad.

Yesterday i had to get to my car... could've taken the appal cart, but had nothing to do, so i jogged the 4 miles to it. uphill most of it.

Everyone mentioned the freshman fifteen... i've lost weight since i got to college, and people have actually noticed it and mentioned it. Makes ya feel good.

I'd be in much better shape if i didn't eat late at night.

I've played basketball a lot... that helps. Play for about 2 hours then lift at least a little bit, it has helped a lot.

By the way... Taco Bell sounds about excellent right now.
