The VN Recipe Thread

So, I could dice some onion and garlic and fry them up with the taters. Then I could make an omelette with the cheese and some red pepper? Please let me know if you have a better idea or any additions :hi:

Okay. Slice the potatoes and fry them with just salt and pepper.

Crack 2-3 eggs into a bowl. 3 is pretty standard. "Beat" them really good with a fork. Dice a garlic clove and a little salt, pepper and a couple of pinches of red pepper and mix it in with the eggs. Slice a nice piece of onion and dice it. Get the eye on the stove as low as possible and slowly pour the egg mix in the pan. Sprinkle about a 1/4 cup of the shredded cheese all around it and do the same with the onion.

Depending on your stove, the egg should be ready to fold in about 20-30 seconds. Fold it in half, wait about 10 seconds and flip it.

Sometimes I forget to tell you the obvious. I fry the omelette with olive oil instead of butter. You should use about a tbls and drop a piece of onion or garlic in when you think it's hot enough. You want the garlic or onion to just sizzle a little around the edges.

If you do, they won't be as good with the omelette, but they will be killer by themselves.

usa, with the omelet win!! Woot. I love omelets. A little cafe in Corsicana, TX makes a great 6 egg Spanish omelet.

Tortilla de Pata, ftw

I'd never had an omelette before lol. 6 egg Spanish omelette?
Yeah, you sort of had one in individual servings. Eggs, potatoes, onions.

You can put most anything in an omelet. I like bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, meat of some kind, pinch of cilantro, maybe a quick dash of Italian seasoning, pepper, little jlap. You can really be creative with them. Spinach is good in them, too. Sliced maters on the side.

Damn near anything!
