Everyone knows Coach Fulmer normally pulls in a top ten recruitng class. Bruce had a good recruitng class as well. My point being, Bruce knows how to bring in good recruits and produce good teams. Coach Fulmer has yet to perfect that on a consistent basis.:whistling:
you beat me to it....regardless of the face time a head coach spends with players in either sport, it is obvious that Pearl is a master at optimizing his players abilities and overachieving, whereas Fulmer/staff have been atrocious. Underchievement is and has been his reputation, unfortunately.Pearl has a great feel for developing talent and putting players in the right positions to succeed. It's his biggest strength as a coach. That guy who scored the 32 points last night...remember how bad he was under Buzz, when he could even get into the game?
I knew we'd hired the right guy when Pearl made good players out of JaJuan, Dane Bradshaw and Stanley Asumnu in his first season. You have to give part of the credit to them for working hard to get better, but it was Pearl who figured out roles for all of them in which they could be successful.
The Fulmer comparison is apples and oranges, though. A head football coach has 100 players and isn't nearly as hands-on. Fulmer's problem, in my opinion, is that he's been poorly served by a lot of his assistant coaches in recent years. I'm hopeful that Clawson and Co. can help rectify that.
Stanley Asumnu, while a fine young man and a hard worker, was never remotely a good SEC level basketball player.Pearl has a great feel for developing talent and putting players in the right positions to succeed. pearl does a great job of developing his talent..just look what he's done so far...lol
JP Prince
8.4 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 48%, 45% ft, 29% 3pt
His last 9 games have been awesome, 5.9 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 41%, 32% ft, 33% 3pt
he's super lazy and plays no defense
B Williams
3 ppg, 4.1 rpg
*yawn*
he still looks like 100lbs of chewed bubble gum
Josh Tabb
1.6 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 1.5 apg
D-1 talent?? probably not
you boys will be shocked when you actually see and play a bench that goes 10 deep that's legit.. your last four; Tabb, Williams, Childress and Howell are barely D1 players.
Gee, how does he win games with so obvious lack of talent?k:

Maybe not, but Pearl got useful minutes out of him, which is something Buzz could never do. Buzz couldn't get anything out of JaJuan Smith, who has proven good enough that someone will be paying him to play basketball a year from now.
