Correct. He is politically adrift. Which has its downsides and upsides. But it is mainly why I can't stand the guy. But of course he ran against 3 of the worst possible candidates out there where folks considered him a viable option lol
Well .... he is all about tariffs. So, there is that.

I’m bragging about it but do not love/like Trump by any means.

I do push back people calling the map in our backyard the same as the Middle East where our partners were also not from the region.

We went into Iraq, took out their dictator, blew sh!t to smithereens, and tried to rebuild without a plan in a region where we didn't have partners.

In this case, we will have plenty to region partners who benefit from a Venezuela on the uppity up

This. Also...letting China and Russia get a solid foothold on our doorstep in the Western Hemisphere is bad news. We need to curb their influence in our region, and that's just common sense. Especially China. Having countries just south of our border flooding the US with narcotics and buying weapons from our enemies is a bad situation. If and when we do have some type of kinetic war with China (hope not) it needs to be fought in the Pacific on their doorstep. Not with them launching attacks on mainland US killing civilians and destroying infrastructure from friendly nations nearby like Venezuela. We need to keep China out of the West.

It shouldn't be our responsibility.

No nation building. Tried it in Iraq and Afghanistan. We suck at it. Let them have a legit election and rebuild their own country. We can offer help with strategy and US companies investments if they choose to. No new wars. No occupation. No nation building.

I'm very back and forth on them. Like they are a tool and can be surgical. But I also chuckle at folks who didn't mind them for 4 years without Trump being the one with them in place.

But I do think its silly he is using the revenue for anything other than deficit reduction. I also have issue with him saying you don't need 20 dolls lol. If someone wants to buy cheap made in china products so be it. But I also understand there are some reasons to ensure we don't cede ground to China on certain sectors

1990 Persian Gulf was about oil
2003 Iraq was about oil. Dick Cheney was literally the former CEO of Haliburton and architect of both Persian Gulf Wars...
2025 Iran was about oil
2025 Venezeula was about oil

If you dont believe yesterday was about oil, then look at all of the oil company stocks yesterday. Markets knew something was up.

I understand that the geopolitical and financial aspects of oil production are complicated, and fluid. No pun intended. Also, leaving the Gold Standard and using "petrodollars" tangles things further. That said...I dont believe those wars were about oil in any but perhaps 1990 if you mean keeping the PG open for free maritime commerce of oil tankers.

2003 was Dubyas bloodlust about the contract on his daddy by Hussein (the other Hussein, not Obama)

2025 Iran was clearly destruction of underground nuclear sites and a few structures above ground that supported them

2026 Venezuela remains to be seen, and I read the post here of the Canadian fears regarding oil...but until proven otherwise I think it's about narcotics flow, Socialism/Democracy, and checking China/Russian influence on our doorstep.

Very fair assessment. If all the wars he listed were about oil, we’re sure bad at taking their oil.

1990-91 was clearly oil. I doubt any arguments there.

2003 was Cheney profiting hugely off Halliburton options. Supplemental reasons were slowing economy, bloodlust, and failure to catch bin Laden.

2025 was showing Iran don't F with oil shipping in the Gulf. Yeah, the weapon facilities were major ancillary reason but it was every bit as much us whipping our Di*k out and telling them they dont measure up....

I guess the commie socialist leader in New York is mad that a commie socialist got arrested

The US is finally enforcing charges that have existed for years and treating Maduro like a criminal instead of a president. Acting quickly is the government protecting Americans from drugs, instability, and migration problems. The US has done similar things in the past without a formal war. The belief is that leaders should not be protected just because of their title, and that showing strength matters in a world where weakness is often taken advantage of. Calling him "President" Maduro is in bad faith, Mamdani is a bad faith actor. I can't wait to watch his downfall as well.

From a friend of mine whose wife is Venezuelan:

"We are very excited and happy about it! My wife's sister was in a friend's apartment in Caracas at 2 a.m. preparing to return home when a large bomb detonated one kilometer away. Needless to say, the blast was felt. She was unable to return home until later this morning. My wife's family in Venezuela is safe and unharmed. Everyone is optimistic and hopeful about the future now for the first time in many years. "

He simply echoed the dem talking points like a good boy. His Venezuelan residents are getting their 1st taste of how idiotic their new mayor is.

I’ll keep her and the residents of Venezuela in my prayers. Glad she is safe. Let her know that we support them

I know this might hurt some feelings on the left, but we just handed Russia and China a big loss. Thankful we had a precise mission and no US casualties because the socialist democrats would cry about that too.

This is backwards mentality. If you want China to be your enemy, just cut them off from the global financial system. Obviously, you need them.
