Fast twitch muscle fibers have more to do with strength than pretty much anything else in your body.
You can build strength without having to work the fast twitch muscles. That's what I was trying to say.
Fast-twitch muscles do not provide more force than slow-twitch muscles, they simply provide speed and are used for short bursts of power.
If you want to raise your max bench by 50 pounds, you need to work fast-twitch fibers. If you want to increase the number of pushups you can do by from 50 to 100, you need to work slow-twich fibers.
Which muscles would those be?That's irrelevant. Whether a guy is or isn't "fast twitch" refers to an above-average presence of fast twitch muscle fiber. My statement was 100% accurate. Just because a guy is "ripped" doesn't mean he's a fast twitch person. It just means he has worked those muscles the most. You can still be ripped and have an average slow to fast twitch ratio. The norm is about 60% fast twitch to 40% slow. Fast twitch guys, such as successful sprinters, will have a ratio of about 80 to 20. They aren't the biggest guys, but again, that is irrelevant.
You can continue arguing, but I promise you that is 100% accurate. What you are saying is true too, but that's not the statement I made.
Are you arguing semantics now? Fast twitch muscle fiber = fast twitch muscles in all of my statements. I'm surprised I have to explain that.

You need to explain it. I thought perhaps you meant you could build strength in muscles that aren't predominately fast twitch. I guess that's not what you were saying. You're pretty much just wrong. Fast twitch muscle fibers are what you build if you want strength. That's just the way it is.
Speed and quickness are not the same as strength and endurance and you wont achieve great speed by only training for strength. Speed is not determined by just how strong your muscles are but also by how quickly they react and contract. And it is acknowledged that the speed and quickness of your muscles is accomplished by conditioning what are called your fast twitch muscles fibers.
Most training programs are not designed to or capable of conditioning your fast twitch muscles fibers for explosive speed and quickness. That's because strength and endurance programs require a lot of time and effort to complete (often 45 minutes or longer) and this amount of time and effort is not conducive to speed as much as it is to strength and endurance.
Fast twitch = explosiveness, speed
Slow twitch = strength and endurance
Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in.
