I distinctly remember hearing that Martin got his release signed when he showed disrespect. The players that are less vital to the team should absolutely be more motivated to stay in line, but I feel the coaches wouldn't hesitate to drop any cancer from the team - walk-on to 5*.

The main problem sounds to me like Bruce didn't want to take responsibility for his actions and that he felt he was above it all. Didn't go to class and blames that on getting hit. The two are completely unrelated. He wanted to play for the school of his dreams but didn't want to show respect that goes along with that privilege. I hate the way that it worked out for him and wish him all the best. Now, next man up.

Man this thread went viral! Lol. I have absolutely no information whatsoever, but I can see a scenario where a veteran like Croom demands that a demands that a young newcomer respect the program work as hard as everyone else. Sometimes the new guys clash with the veterans. The reality is that it's probably positive for our program. And if Croom just straight out assaulted Bruce, he'd be in some trouble (at least with the program if not for the kpd) yet we hear nothing regarding him.

In fact in New Jersey cops will monitor a fight as well as Texas and Washington. This is most popularly known for the Phoenix jones fight. ( the guy that dresses like a super hero).

Sooo not saying this happened but if Joc, Steps to croom and let's say assaults him then croom can assault back and vice versa. I know in this sensitive time, and since it was reported bullying by jocs camp this does not appear to be mutual combat..... But kids are full of crap a lot of the time and will say what they need to appear just or right in their actions.

I just don't ever remember assessing after every altercation whether it was assault or not. Win or lose, you went on about your business and called it a day.

If you feel you need to physically assault someone in order to gain their respect over a piece of carpet then you are a clown. I can only hope this kind of stuff is not being taught by the coaching staff when they talk about building up young men

Here's what I'm fairly certain is being taught by Butch & Co. to our young men:

  1. Tennessee is a storied football program with an incredibly rich history and traditions.
  2. Today's players stand on the shoulders of the giants of the past, and represent them in everything they do.
  3. Being a Vols football player means willingness to become a caretaker of those traditions and values

Given those very positive lessons, it is not surprising if the older members of the team, who have absorbed and adopted the program's culture, bring the newer members along as they grow into it.

And if once in a while that takes a little tough love, that's not always a bad thing.

That's what I think they're teaching these young men. And good on 'em.

Not so fast; you may ignore me after defending your accusation that I've disrespected any good man/woman. Cite it or be man enough to retract.

Let me clarify this for you since you're having trouble following. The 'war' with Spain was not a defensive war but our new sense of imperialism taking advantage of a flagging European power, a war of yellow journalism and monied interests; a permanent break from neutrality that Jefferson and many founders advocated. Rather than lift the heavy hand of Spain from Guam, Cuba and Phillipines, we replaced it. Manifest destiny never sleeps.

Japan and Germany attacked us why? Were "evil-doers" simply attacking us because "they hate our freedoms" even back then? Was VNam a "good war"? Iraq? And how are our handpicked dictators better than ones we don't like? How many Uncle Joe/Pinochet/Shah buddies do we need to cycle through before wising up? Taliban, ISIS, anyone?

What other examples of 'defensive wars' do you have? It's a short list, isn't it? Our government - and that includes military and intelligence brass - has wasted many young lives in wars we had no business in and it continues. Jingoistic fools never tire of 1984-type boogeyman sporting a fresh coat of lipstick.

Is that what happened? Where you there? Making assumptions based on limited information to me is clownish behavior. And if that's what you've got out of this story, I suggest you work on your comprehension skills. And I can only hope the coaching staff is turning boys into men and not creating a wimpy environment where loud mouth punks and know it alls feel as if they can run around and say what they want without any repercussions. It's becoming painfully obvious as to who excelled in sports and who didn't.

It's intellectually dishonest nonsense like your above comment why we have the racial divide we have right now. Try staying on topic instead of perpetuating today's problems.
