Trump was not happy with some of the things, including pork spending, in the OBBB but signed it anyway because it contained many promises he made while campaigning.

because the leftist media has been claiming since Trump laid off so many federal workers, the SSA was not running very efficiently...

For example:
  • Schumer publicly stated the goal was to "destroy Social Security from within" by making it inefficient through understaffing, leaving seniors without timely help on checks and claims.
  • Broader left critiques tie this to DOGE-led firings (including probationary employees in waves like the "Valentine’s Day Massacre"), arguing it harms essential services rather than just cutting "bureaucracy."

His proxy in Congress filed the spending/tax bill + reconciliation the Trump admin gave him and that was what was 99.9% approved. Some revisionist history here...

The huge DoD spending bump was Trump. It was much more than even all the Senators who are owned by the MIC was asking for.

Again, Trump is POTUS and this is what people voted for.

The Trump who said he doesn't believe in budgets would get spending under control?

Trump doesn't have to sign anything. He chooses to sign because he doesn't care about spending. COVID should have proved that to the world

Trump ran for POTUS, made promises, won, and had a mandate. The spending, tax, and reconciliation bills were the legislative vehicle for the promises. This vehicle was drafted by his admin and filed by his proxies in House and Senate and passed pretty close to verbatim.

You cant give him credit for keeping those promises while completely absolving him from additional debt for keeping those promises...

his other option is to veto all bills presented to him that have spending in them thereby nothing in his agenda ever gets passed.

Defense is the main thing Federal gov't SHOULD be spending money on and quit spending on entitlements as Obamacare which they have no business doing.

Convictions demand sacrifices.

Line item veto is unconstitutional now so he doesn't have a lot of options if he is serious about spending reductions...which he isn't.

Defense and the border is what fed govt should be spending on. Fully agree here. My point is you dont give several trillion in incremental spending to a group that cant pass an audit, cant account for trillions of assets, have no idea where hundreds of billions of assets are, insufficient internal controls, and insufficient financial controls. Fix these issues and we can talk funding increases...

He's not looking to cut spending or combat fraud. It was a talking point that, like all his talking points, gets abandoned after a couple months

He had Congress and could have told them he wanted clean bills or they would be vetoed. For example, he could have demanded and actual budget instead of signing the CR extending the Biden level spending and re-funding all recommended Doge cuts.
