To preempt a long series of "____ gets hurt, how do we recover from that?" threads, two of which we've already seen (a masochistic one on Dobbs and recently a second about Hurd), let's just get this out of the way.

What if ________ is injured and out for several games?

Dobbs -- well, we just get to see how good Dormady can be, and we find out whether Jones or Guarantano are next up in the succession. We'll be fine, but might take a week or two to readjust the offensive scheme to fit the new QB.

Hurd -- Kamara becomes the featured back with John Kelly spelling him. Dobbs probably runs more QB draws and options, as well. Won't hurt us as much as one might think, though there will be a drop-off in production.

Barnett -- in 2014 or 2015, I'd have said we were in big trouble. This year, we can afford it more than any time recently. Lot of weapons at DE.

KMac (or O'Brien, or any other DT) -- could be trouble, we're already thin. Look for even more shifting of DEs to the 3 technique inside.

Kirkland -- think we'd see Jumper filling in. Would he be up to the job this year? Only time would tell. If there is ONE player on the team whose health you want most strongly to pray for, this might be the spot. Here or...

JRM -- we do have good OLB options behind Jalen, but what we'd miss the most is his on-field leadership. If Kirkland is the brain of the defense, Barnett is its muscle, and Sutton is its spine...well, JRM is its heart.

Sutton -- we're rich...would be a drop in experience and savvy, but pure talent and skill would make up for much (not all) of it.

So there you go, we don't need any more "what if _______ got hurt" threads this year, this one covers them all. Feel free to toss in your own $.02 here. That's certainly all mine are worth. And let's be done with this self-flagellation.

I think, if Dobbs goes down, Dormady is the man. CBJ wanted to redshirt Dobbs and was unable to. I think the same goes with Guarantano. He hopefully won't see the field until team 122 - Dormady's backup during 121, with a strong competition during camp - Dormady winning due to previous reps.

As for the safety's - should Cam Sutton go down - I think Berry would be a ball hawk. Not sure how good his tackling is, but watch out if (when) he gets a pick.

'Lots of us behind this mind-set, JP. Let's just put this "worry" behind us and deal with whatever comes up if/when it does. Let's power 120 with positive VN vibes!

Poster's note: Wouldn't that be the ideal definition of a paradigm shift?

Not a lot has been said about Berry in practice so far. I'd love to see him ball out this year though.

Forgot the multiple what if scenarios... For example, losing both KMac and Kirkland would be devastating, especially if Tuttle isn't a go by SEC play.

Only speaking hypotheticals here (knock on wood).

How dare you post something insightful and probable!

Delete this thread! You're a moron! Ban worthy! This forum is for blinder wearing children only!

I am so ready for season to be here so we don't have to sift through these threads about "possible injuries."

What if D4H has a hardware problem and can't get online? Who is second on the depth chart?

Heh, Willis, why do I get the impression that right after posting that, you put the thread on ignore? It's a smart strategy, of course. :)

My mind goes through these scenarios, but I don't like actually vocalizing them, or writing about them due to superstition.

No offense to Jumper but based on what I saw in 2015, he is just not SEC material. What about Q. Sapp?

Sapp is an OLB, backs up JRM. From all accounts, I've heard he's doing very well and will battle McDowell for playing time behind Jalen.

Agree about Jumper.....figured the coaches had learned their lesson from his game play last year but I guess not. Who knows, kids can learn and get better so perhaps that's what Colton has done. Disappointing that highly sought after players like Dillon and Gavin haven't blown past him realized what we all thought was their potential.
