You mean like free speech and in the case of the US the First Amendment? Or does that apply only to people who agree with your ignorance?

What ignorance?

Jihad in Tennessee - Jihad Watch

Yes, there was a militant Muslim organization in Knoxville, Tennessee, that was helping fund jihad in Bosnia and Chechnya in the 1990s, but it's no longer active. See? Nothing to be concerned about at all. KnoxNews reports that "a former member of a secretive Islamic fundamentalist organization in Knoxville helped funnel money to militant fighters in Bosnia and Chechnya during the 1990s, but local Muslims said Tuesday the group is no longer active."
------------------------

"Mustafa Saied, a former University of Tennessee student and member of the Muslim Brotherhood, told the Wall Street Journal in a story published Tuesday that money raised at the Annoor Mosque ostensibly for poor civilians actually went to Muslim warriors."
----------------

"Saied told Barrett he and other fundamentalist Muslims would meet once a week to drink tea and eat sweets while discussing fundamentalist Islam in secret. Saied said the Knoxville chapter viewed violence as something 'we don't do here, unless necessary.'

As Rep. Peter King gets ready to open hearings Thursday on Muslim radicals in the U.S., the New York lawmaker is facing questions about his own past as an unapologetic supporter of the anti-British Irish Republican Army.

From his days as the elected Nassau County comptroller in the early 1980s, King has spoken out for the IRA, a nationalist group that waged a bloody bomb-and-bullet campaign for three decades in an effort to drive the British out of Northern Ireland. To King and other supporters, the IRA volunteers were freedom fighters. But to others, including many Irish Americans, the Provisionals (as the main IRA group was known) were terrorists.

In 1982, the New York Republican told a pro-IRA rally on Long Island, "We must pledge ourselves to support those brave men and women who this very moment are carrying forth the struggle against British imperialism in the streets of Belfast and Derry," according to an extensive account in the New York Times that traced King's IRA ties. A few years later, King said, "If civilians are killed in an attack on a military installation, it is certainly regrettable, but I will not morally blame the IRA for it."

The IRA, which emerged in 1916 as the Irish Republican Brotherhood, did attack British military installations and soldiers, but also Protestant paramilitary members, Northern Irish police (the Royal Ulster Constabulary) and sometimes pubs and shops. In the 1980s, the IRA bought weapons from Libya's Moammar Gadhafi.

Yet King is also credited with playing a role in peace talks that brought together members of Sinn Fein -- the IRA's political wing -- Protestant political leaders, British government officials and representatives of the independent Republic of Ireland. King told CNN he helped bring peace about in the six counties in the north of Ireland. "This isn't me saying it, it's Tony Blair and Bill Clinton, among others." He even has a signed photo of former British Prime Minister Blair on his office wall.

King, 66, still insists the rebel army was a "legitimate force" in a "dirty war on both sides." Although the IRA Provisional command gave up its arsenal in the aftermath of the 1998 Good Friday Accord, one or two IRA splinter groups are still in existence.

King, son of a New York City police officer and grand-nephew of an IRA member, was profoundly affected by the 9/11 attacks on his hometown, New York City, and rejects any comparisons between the IRA and al-Qaeda. "I understand why people who are misinformed might see a parallel," he told the Times. "The fact is, the IRA never attacked the United States. And my loyalty is to the United States."

Iran: Clerics or pimps? :: Weekly Blitz

Prostitutes wear their veils loosely over their heads in a style that passes for risqué in this strictly regulated society. With their faces heavily made up, they stand at traffic circles where men driving by can inspect them and make a deal. The women are often young, including many teenagers who have run away from abusive homes. Based on official figures, there are some 300,000 women who work as prostitutes in Iran. And according to newspapers, the number is steadily rising.

They were fighting for independence from British rule as opposed to the infiltration of England to overthrow the British government.

And, many Islamic terrorists can be said to be fighting for independence from Western influence.

I characterize it as ****ed up and wrong, just as I would say that slavery, oppression, sexual abuse, and forced prostitution among Christians is wrong:

DUBLIN — For years, it was Ireland’s hidden scandal: an estimated 30,000 women were sent to church-run laundries, where they were abused and worked for years with no pay. Their offense, in the eyes of society, was to break the strict sexual rules of Catholic Ireland, having children outside wedlock.

Although it has been over a decade since their story came to light, the women are still waiting for an apology, and possibly compensation.

Now, an advocacy group, Justice for Magdalenes, which has spent the last two years lobbying the Irish government to investigate the history of the laundries, is taking the case to the United Nations, alleging the abuse amounted to human rights violations, and hoping that an official rebuke from the international body will shame the government into action.

“We don’t take any pleasure in embarrassing the government in this way but we have worked the domestic structure as far as we can and still the government has done nothing,” said James Smith of Boston College, a spokesman for Justice for Magdalenes.

The United Nations is examining Ireland’s human rights record this week as part of the Universal Periodic Review, a review of the human rights records of all 192 member states. The U.N. Committee Against Torture invited Justice for Magdalenes to make a statement in Geneva after reading their submission about the alleged abuses in the laundries.

Maeve O’Rourke, a Harvard Law School human rights fellow, presented the Magdalenes’ case last Friday. She told the committee that the Irish government’s failure to deal with the abuse amounted to continuing degrading treatment in violation of the Convention Against Torture. She also said the state had failed to promptly investigate “a more than 70-year system of torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment of women and girls in Ireland’s Magdalene laundries.”

The story of the Magdalene women was uncovered in 1993 when a religious order in Dublin cashed in on the booming Irish property market and sold a portion of its land to a developer. The bodies of 155 women who had died in the laundry were exhumed from unmarked graves and the media began to ask questions. The story went made international headlines with the release of Peter Mullan’s 2002 film “The Magdalene Sisters.”

Until recently, the Catholic Church was the ultimate moral authority in Ireland, and it promoted strict rules on sex. In this climate, the shame of giving birth to an illegitimate child was so great that many unmarried mothers were rejected by their families. They were taken out of “decent society” and put into Magdalene laundries by members of the clergy, government institutions and their own families.

The Magdalene laundries were a network of profit-making workhouses run by four religious communities — the Sisters of Mercy, the Sisters of Charity, the Good Shepherd Sisters and the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity. Named after the Bible’s redeemed prostitute Mary Magdalene, they were initially used to reform prostitutes. By the 1940s, however, most of the residents, or “penitents” as they were called, were young women who had sex outside of marriage (in some cases victims of rape), unmarried mothers, women deemed flirtatious and the mentally disabled.

Magdalene women worked long hours, typically seven days a week, without pay. There have been accounts of the harsh conditions the women endured, including allegations of mental, physical and, in some cases, sexual abuse. Many lived and died behind convent walls until the last laundry closed in 1996. Today’s Magdalene women are in their 70s or 80s.

Victims of the child sex abuse scandals that have rocked the Irish Catholic Church have received an apology and compensation, but no one has taken responsibility for what happened in the laundries. Cardinal Sean Brady, the most senior Catholic cleric in Ireland, met with Justice for Magdalenes in 2010. He said “by today’s standards much of what happened at that time is difficult to comprehend” but that it was a matter for the religious orders who ran the laundries to deal with. The religious orders have declined to meet the women.

The Irish government acknowledged as far back as 2001 that the Magdalene women were victims of abuse but says that because the laundries were privately run, they are outside its remit. It has resisted numerous calls for a statutory inquiry, the latest from the Irish Human Rights Commission in November 2010. The government also rejected proposals for compensation, saying that the state “did not refer individuals, nor was it complicit in referring individuals to the laundries.”

However, there is evidence that the state was involved. The Irish courts routinely sent women who were handed down a suspended sentence for petty crimes to the laundries, which operated as a kind of parallel detention system.

Public records show the government also awarded lucrative contracts to the nuns for its army and hospital laundry without ever insisting on fair wages for the “workers,” nor did it inspect conditions inside.

Testimony from Magdalene women claim that state employees like the Irish police force and social workers brought women to the laundries and returned those who had escaped.

There is widespread public support for the Magdalene women’s requests for an apology, compensation, a statutory pension reflecting their years of work in the laundries and access to their records.

Mr. Smith and his colleagues at Justice for Magdalenes said they hoped that the U.N. would persuade the Irish government to act. They said elderly survivors needed justice sooner rather than later.

“I have always described them as Ireland’s disappeared,” he said. “They were edited out in the past and unfortunately the government seems to want to forget them in the present. But we won’t let that happen.”

Two Vatican staffers have been removed after revelations that they were involved in a homosexual prostitution ring, reports Hilary White, LifeSiteNews.com.

Angelo Balducci, a Papal Gentiluomini (“Gentleman” usher who helps greet dignitaries), and Thomas Chinedu Ehiem, a 29 year-old Nigerian and professional chorister with the Giulia Choir, which performs at St Peter's Basilica, were working together to provide Mr. Balducci with homosexual prostitutes.

The discovery was made by Italian police wiretaps during an investigation into Balducci’s involvement in political corruption over public works contracts and published in the Italian newspaper La Repubblica on Thursday. The BBC news magazine Panorama quoted Ehiem saying, “He [Balducci] asked me if I could procure other men for him. He told me he was married and that I had to do it in great secrecy.”

The Rev. Jonathan L. Offt, 41, of Cedar Rapids, the senior pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, was the first person arrested in the operation conducted by the Marion Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, police said. All of the men responded to an advertisement on a website and arranged to meet an undercover female officer who was posing as a prostitute.

TRUE CASES OF CHRISTIAN RITUALISED CHILD ABUSE THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO SEE - HiddenMysteries Spiritual Studies

If you looked at those racy pictures of British Airways flight attendants and cattily thought to yourself "wow, those girls are acting like total whores," you might have been closer to the truth than you knew. The reputation of the airlines' hostesses is set to grow even saltier, as Indian police begin to unravel a $10 million high-end prostitution racket that employed as many as 200 local students and flight attendants.

The only thing that could improve this story, which comes to us via our good friend Neal Ungerleider at True/Slant, is if the pimp was a self-styled "Hindu God-Man" with over 100,000 followers, deep connections to leading Indian politicians, and an underground labyrinth brimming with drugs and porn. And wouldn't you know it, that turns out to be exactly true.

Police say that Shiv Myra Dwivedi, a Hindu swami out of South Delhi, has been running the prostitution ring since 1999. Police nabbed him along with a second pimp and six prostitutes while they were negotiating a deal with some locals. No trouble is anticipated in unraveling the racket, since a search of Dwivedi's Temple revealed an underground tunnel network with a bunch of documents and six detailed diaries. The tunnel entrances opened up into the meditation room, natch.

Sooner or later, every traditional faith has to confront sexual impropriety by its spiritual leaders: extramarital sex, or sex with the wrong people (members of the congregation, minors) or, for supposedly celibate clergy, any sex at all.

But there are great differences in how religions handle these transgressions. For Jews and many Protestants, it is the local congregation that decides what sins are too great to countenance, and what kind of discipline is needed. For Roman Catholics, a worldwide hierarchy decides, depending on reports from local representatives. And for Buddhists — well, the answer is not so clear.

The root of the problem, some experts say, is that the teacher/student relationship in Buddhism has no obvious Western analogy. Priests and rabbis know the boundaries, even if some do not always respect them. Doctors, too, have ethical canons they are supposed to honor. A spiritual figure like a priest, an authority figure like a teacher, a therapeutic figure like an analyst — the Buddhist teacher may be all of those, but is not really like any one of them. Even sanghas, or Buddhist communities, that discourage such relationships often have no process for enforcing a ban, and as one Zen society in New York is learning, that can lead to problems.

Since 1965, Eido Shimano, now 77, has been the abbot, or head spiritual teacher, of the Zen Studies Society, a Japanese Buddhist community with headquarters on East 67th Street in Manhattan and a 1,400-acre monastery in the Catskills. For much of that time, there have been rumors about the married abbot’s sexual liaisons, with his students and with other women. Such rumors could no longer be ignored when, in 2008, the University of Hawaii at Manoa unsealed some papers donated by Robert Aitken, a leading American Buddhist and founder of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship.

The papers included files about Mr. Shimano that Mr. Aitken kept from 1964 to 2003. Mr. Aitken, who died Aug. 5, met Mr. Shimano when both men worked in Hawaii in the 1960s, and for more than 40 years he kept notes on his colleague’s liaisons, based on conversations with women who had confided in him.

In a 1995 letter to the president of the Zen Studies Society’s board, Mr. Aitken wrote: “Over the past three decades, we have interviewed many former students of Shimano Roshi. Their stories are consistent: trust placed in an apparently wise and compassionate teacher, only to have that trust manipulated in the form of his sexual misconduct and abuse.” (“Roshi,” or teacher, is a Japanese honorific that goes after the name.)

Sex Scandal Has American Buddhists Looking Within - NYTimes.com

CHICAGO – The meeting took place at Wat Dhammaram, a cavernous Theravada Buddhist temple on the southwest edge of Chicago. A tearful 12-year-old told three monks how another monk had turned off the lights during a tutoring session, lifted her shirt and kissed and fondled her breasts while pressing against her, according to a lawsuit.

Shortly after that meeting, one of the monks sent a letter to the girl’s family, saying the temple’s monastic community had resolved the matter, the lawsuit says.

The “wrong doer had accepted what he had done,” wrote P. Boonshoo Sriburin, and within days would “leave the temple permanently” by flying back to Thailand.

“We have done our best to restore the order,” the letter said.

But 11 years later, the monk, Camnong Boa-Ubol, serves at a temple in California, where he says he interacts with children even as he faces a second claim, supported by DNA, that he impregnated a girl in the Chicago area.

Sriburin acknowledges that restoring order did not involve stopping Boa-Ubol from making the move to California. And it did not involve issuing a warning to the temple there. Wat Dhammaram didn’t even tell its own board of directors what happened with the monk, he said.

“We have no authority to do anything. … He has his own choice to live anywhere,” Sriburin said.

A Chicago Tribune review of sexual abuse cases involving several Theravada Buddhist temples found minimal accountability and lax oversight of monks accused of preying on vulnerable targets.

Muhammad Osama: Through the worship [of Allah], we shall gain victory over our enemies, strengthen our religion, and defeat the Jews. The Messenger of Allah said: "Judgment Day will not come before the Muslims fight the Jews, and the Muslims will kill the Jews, and the Jews will hide behind the trees and the stones, and then the trees and the stones will say: Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Bologna. You will find no literature in any Christian
church of any kind that promotes such but you will find
in most mosques in America literature that promotes

What I don't get is why so many people continure to
deny what islam is all about, even when the highest
levels of the muslim world are quoted, for instance:

The Islamist Plan for Victory: "Gradualism" » Publications » Family Security Matters

One of the mistakes that the West makes is that it
doesn’t listen to what the Islamists are saying. If
only we listened, we could hear their strategy. On
November 20, Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradawi, the top Muslim Brotherhood theologian and arguably the
most influential Sunni cleric in the world
, called
on Muslims to embrace “gradualism.”

The doctrine of gradualism is successful because we
fail to appreciate the ability of the Islamists to be skillful
political strategists. Gradualism is an intelligent form of
jihad based on pragmatism, patience, long-term planning
and self-evaluation. The Islamists evaluate their
performance and recalibrate their strategy accordingly.

The West misinterprets this as being “moderate,”
when in reality, not all Islamists are as reckless as
Al-Qaeda.

--------------------------------

The Islamists, especially the Muslim Brotherhood,
have always worked in stages. In December, the
Brotherhood’s Supreme Guide, Mohamed Badi,
outlined six phases:

1. Sharia over the individual;
2. Sharia over the family;
3. Sharia over the society;
4. Sharia over the government;
5. the resurrection of the Caliphate and finally,
6. “mastership of the world.”

The Muslim Brotherhood is in the process of completing
the fourth phase in Egypt.
--------------------------

As far back as 1982, the Muslim Brotherhood had drawn
up a 12-point strategy to “establish an Islamic
government on earth.” It was discovered when the
Swiss authorities raided the home of Yousef Nada in
2001 and is referred to as "The Project."

The document says to exercise “flexibility at the local
level” and “to reconcile political engagement and the
necessity of avoiding isolation on one hand, with
permanent education and institutional action on the
other.” It calls for “controlling the local centers of power
through institutional action” and to build alliances with
other Islamic groups even if there are disagreements.
It supports “temporary cooperation” with non-Muslim
groups that are anti-Israel and “struggle against
colonialism.”

The strategy document says the worldwide Brotherhood
must “support movements engaged in jihad across the
Muslim world” but “should not look for confrontation with
our adversaries, at the local or the global scale, which
would be disproportionate and could lead to attacks.” It
talks of constructive “self-criticism” and using the Israeli
-Palestinian conflict to further its strategy, “since it
acts as the keystone of the renaissance of the Arab
world today.” In other words, use the conflict to
radicalize the masses.
-----------------------------

Wherever the Muslim Brotherhood and similar Islamists
operate, there is a phased strategy—even in the United
States. The Islamic Circle of North America, one of the
most powerful Muslim-American groups in the U.S.,
explained its five phases in its handbook published in
2010 and it very closely follows what Badie said in
Egypt. The phases are: Educating yourself; Converting
your family; Outreach into the community; “establish an
Islamic society” on the state level and then a “united
Islamic state, governed by an elected khalifah in
accordance with the laws of Sharia.”

An FBI memo written in 1988 likewise documented that
a source, apparently within the ranks of the Muslim
Brotherhood in the U.S., described a six-phased plan.
At the time, the Muslim Brotherhood, specifically the
International Institute of Islamic Thought and the North
American Islamic Trust, were working on the first phase.

It included creating “political action front groups with no
traceable ties” so that it can “peacefully get inside the
United States government and also American
universities.” The source told the FBI that Brotherhood
operatives “claimed success infiltrating the United
States government.”

In 2004, the FBI found seized another Brotherhood
strategy document that describes its “work in
America as a kind of grand jihad in eliminating
and destroying Western civilization within.”

It describes 5 phases:

None that I know of and most likely I know a lot more
of them than you.

You are right, most likely a lot more of them will and/or do beat their wives than I do.

Israel Matzav: Gaza human rights activist stabbed for exposing Hamas use of human shields

The stabbing in Gaza of a Palestinian rights activist after he exposed Hamas' contempt for its own people by using them as human shields, and after he criticized the radical Islamic group for torture, abuse and trampling free speech, should be strongly condemned by the United Nations—both as an attack on the victim’s human rights, and on the idea of freedom of expression.

Masked attackers on Friday stabbed Mahmud Abu Rahma multiple times in the back, leg and shoulders, it was revealed today.
------------------------------

Abu Rahma's crime was publishing an article in the Palestinian press that dared to criticize Hamas' "outrageous attack upon free expression and peaceful assembly" over the past year, and the "hundreds of cases of torture and abuse."
------------------------------

Abu Rahma also dared to publish basic facts about Gaza that completely contradict the Hamas narrative, and that of the UN's Goldstone Report, which repeatedly found "no evidence" that Hamas used civilians as human shields.

Candidly Speaking: Groveling to t... JPost - Opinion - Columnists

It is profoundly disconcerting to read media reports of the unseemly competition between the US and Western governments to curry favor with the Muslim Brotherhood in the wake of its electoral victory in Egypt. There are chilling parallels between such behavior and the disastrous European policy of appeasing the Nazis which paved the way for World War II.

What those attempting to embrace the Muslim Brotherhood fail to comprehend is that this organization represents one of the most fanatical and dangerous of the radical Islamist groups in the region, with a dark record of violence and terrorism imbedded in its DNA. It is rabidly anti-Western, anti-Christian and anti-Semitic, is committed to imposing sharia law and a global caliphate – and willing to employ any means to further its objectives.

To this day, the Brotherhood credo remains: “Allah is our objective, the Koran is our constitution, the Prophet is our leader, jihad is our way and death for the sake of Allah is the highest of our aspirations.”

In Brotherhood eyes Osama bin Laden was a “sheikh” and they condemned the US for assassinating him. A few weeks ago the current Brotherhood leader, Muhammad al-Badi, proclaimed that the genocidal Hamas, which the Brotherhood spawned, should be regarded as a role model for Islamic piety.

Today, aware of the desperate need for US and Western economic support, it tactically moves into a duplicitous “stealth jihad” mode, speaking with a forked tongue and feeding the foreign media with self-portraits of moderation that are totally divorced from reality.

So how often do you beat your wife?

Never have.

Was the scientist in fact a muslim?

I was making a joke, why the sohf?

Was the scientist in fact building a weapon to be used against us?

1. Maybe he was a Muslim.

2. Maybe he was building a weapon. Why does that matter? We have plenty of individuals in the US who build weapons, are they legitimate military targets?

“Understanding Obama: The Making of a Fuehrer”

Ali Sina the founder of Faith Freedom International, the movement of ex-Muslims created to warn the world of the danger of Islam and to help Muslims leave it and embrace the rest of mankind in amity.

Republished with full permission.

Read before you judge.

The parallels Ali Sina draws between Obama and Hitler (among other infamous figures with similar personality traits) are compelling to say the least.

We should find what some former Christians say and think about Christianity. They're pretty reliable, and not angry/bitter/biased.

I'm not saying there isn't persecution within Islam, I'm saying it's inherent in all devout religions. People leave scorned.
